All stories below are from personal texts sent from Shrii Ramdas Pandit. He hails from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. He has been an Anandamargii since 1965. He served Anandmarg Mission as Whole time worker as Ac. Gunadhiishanand Avdhuta from 1965 - 77.
My First Day at Jamalpur and My First Meeting with BABA
It was the month of May 1965, when I visited Jamalpur for the very first time. I was then a 21-year-old student of Civil Engineering. That morning, I reached the Jamalpur Jagriti with my Ácárya, Swagatananda Avadhuta. The entire atmosphere was surcharged with devotion. Everywhere, Margis were absorbed in divine flow, waiting eagerly for the blessed moment of BABA’s arrival. Suddenly, one senior Margi entered the ground and instructed everyone to form a single line, saying that BABA was about to come.
At that time, in 1965, there was an open ground just outside BABA’s room at the Jamalpur Jagriti. We all quickly aligned ourselves. Then, in one single voice, the whole gathering shouted: “Param Pita BABA ki Jay!”
With folded hands in Namaskar mudrá, BABA entered through the main gate. Radiant and full of spiritual effulgence, He began moving along the line, blessing Margis one by one with His loving words. I was standing in the middle of the line, waiting with great excitement for my first personal meeting with Him. BABA looked extraordinarily bright and energetic, with a young and charming face. In those days, I carried pride in both my youthfulness and my Civil Engineering status.
But to my utter surprise, when BABA reached where I was standing, He did not stop. Instead, He blessed the Margi next to me, spoke a few words, and then moved forward, completely ignoring me. My heart sank. How was it possible? After traveling 2,500 kilometers all the way from Gujarat to Jamalpur to meet Him, BABA had not spoken a single word to me! A wave of confusion and hurt swirled within me, yet I remained seated with the others. Then a Margi named Muflish ji began singing in Bhojpuri:
“Tohar chal likhit na jaibo… o BABA…” (O BABA, we cannot understand Your mysterious steps…)
Hearing this heartfelt song, BABA immediately responded in the same Bhojpuri rhythm:
“Likhat… likhat… jaan jaibo…” (By observing repeatedly, you will finally understand Me…)
In His discourse that day, BABA said:
“You can reach the Supreme Consciousness (Param Purush) by following the paths of Knowledge, Action, and Devotion. But do you know the true role of Knowledge?
Knowledge is like a paper dish holding the food of Devotion (Bhakti). Once you have eaten the food, what happens to the paper dish? Yes, it is thrown into the dustbin. In the same way, once you attain devotion for Param Purush, you no longer need the so-called decorated knowledge. Just throw it away.” Each word of BABA pierced my heart. They shattered my pride, my arrogance of learning, and my false sense of superiority as a Civil Engineering student. At that sacred moment, I surrendered completely, casting aside my ego, and offered myself fully at the lotus feet of Param Purush BABA.
To know Param Purush, BABA guided us to:
- Do maximum Kiirtan – “BABA Nam Kevalam”
- Do maximum Sádhaná
- Do maximum service to suffering humanity
That day in Jamalpur was the beginning of my true journey. It was my first meeting with BABA, the Supreme Father, who crushed my ego only to shower me with the infinite grace of surrender.
BABA’s Mysterious Ways of Cautioning About the Future
In my many meetings with BABA, He would sometimes stop me in the middle of a current issue and, in just a few words, instruct me about a new duty to be carried out in the future. For example, during the Purnea DMC, I was allotted the duty of giving massage to BABA’s body. I happily accepted this responsibility and went to BABA’s room. BABA was lying on the bed but appeared to be actively waiting for me. The moment I entered, He said: “Ke… Gunadhiishanand… come, come, I am waiting for you. First of all, tell me—how was DMC?”
I was overjoyed to hear BABA say that He was waiting for me! Then I began sharing live stories about the Ananda Margis gathered at DMC—how everyone was deeply absorbed in devotion, and above all, how the Kirtan of ‘BABA Nam Kevalam’ was wonderfully organized. When all the Avadhutas started doing Kirtan with Lalita Mudra, it looked like red lotus flowers floating on the surface of the ocean. (I was sitting on the dais behind BABA and witnessed everything closely.) Listening to my narration, BABA seemed satisfied. But then He suddenly advised me about something unexpected: “You must start writing articles. Do you know, if Rabindranath Tagore had not written anything, how would the world have known him as a great poet? So go on writing…”
This conversation between BABA and me happened more than fifty years ago. At that time, I was posted as Finance Secretary of PFI and was extremely busy collecting funds all over India. It was an era of great intellectuals like Raghunath Dada, Santoshanand, and Chanranath Kunvar. But today, after fifty years, that brief talk with BABA feels deeply significant. Everything is nothing but the wish of BABA, and He accomplishes everything through His will. I am only His instrument.
He—BABA—is the real player. Baba Nam Kevalam Baba Kripa Hi Kevalam
Prediction of grim future by Baba
In summer of year of 1968 Baba visited Delhi. Before morning General Darshan as routine we arranged visit for Purana Kila ( Old Fort ) as a part of morning walk. Baba was accompanied with R.Prasad ( Collector Central Excise) , Mangal Bihari (IAS officer Gov.of India) Dr. P.K.Kymal, Venu Gopalan ( Ass.Com. Finance), Ravindra Dutta….it was nice group of devoted Margis. We reached at the foot of Purana Kila by car and finally entered in gorgeous gate of Purana Kila. It was pleasant atmosphere and Baba looked very very bright and satisfied. We reached at small open ground. Suddenly Baba stopped and looked at sky above him. He raised His right arm and pointed to various part of sky with His fore finger as if locating something in vast Universe. Suddenly Baba became serious.
“OH…no…it is very bad.. " BABA whispered. We all were stunned for a while but nobody dared to speak anything. Baba closed His eyes and slowly opened and looked at everyone of us. He said " ….stars and constellations are arranged today exactly in the same position as they were in time of Mahabharat… the earth is entering in very very tough times of transition.” Baba continued “…. the world will witness series of natural calamities, unknown viruses with waves of pandemic will attack human races all around the world…and world will plunge into world wars…” BABA continued " …. there will be great loss of human population around the world… the two third world wide population of human races will be destroyed ….
We all were again speechless and stunned. Baba explained “….Prakriti (Mother Nature) is very very annoyed. Even I will not able to save human race from anger of Prakriti …”. We all were stunned and speechless. After little walk we found a nice place under a tree. We sat in circle around BABA. After some time BABA continued “….Prakriti is annoyed because humans at large are violating norms of nature to great extent… so Prakriti is highly revenge fully attacking all around the world. I will only manage to save Anandmargis in the world….” BABA further revealed “….there will be tremendous scarcity of food grains all over the world. Even if there will be some produce of grains in farms it will not reach peaple as there will be extreme problems of law and orders…” Finally BABA give special advice “….. all Margis must store food grains minimum for one and half years in this period… all Margis should follow 16 points strictly…” .
The above discussion happened in front of me. I am forwarding above event as we all are witnessing sequence of natural calamities and virus attacks and weaves of pandemics as first signal as per BABA ’s forecasting. So let us become safe by following 16 points and Sadhana as per BABA ’s instructions.
Face to face with the PARAM PURUSH….
Yes… it is about our relationship with Cosmic Creator… Param Purush… our BABA.
It was DMC in Patna. It was year 1966 and Baba looked very very bright and blissful. During DMC discourse BABA said “… look, Param Purush is present everywhere. But one who thinks that Param Purush is away from him then Param Purush slips away from that particular person… so far that it can not be measured. And again for one who thinks that Param Purush is near to him then Param Purush will be so much near to him that again can’t be measured too… “. Meanwhile I started to imagine that BABA is near to me as per direction given by HIM. Suddenly strange things happened. A bright image of BABA strated traveling towards me. At that time I heard BABA saying " … and Param Purush will enter in your eyes too…” . And exactly it happened same way. As I imagined more that BABA is approaching near me then that very moment the bright image of BABA entered in my eyes….and I was just lost. After some time suddenly someone pushed me and asked me to sit properly. He complained that all the time I was rested on his shoulder during the discourse. I got awake and just told him sorry for disturbing him. But other hand I was enjoying strange joy in my heart.
We all are touched by Param Purush BABA all the time. Just call upon Him with depth of our heart and love and we will be blessed by HIS divine blissful presence in and out.
PARAM PURUSH watches us at All times
In very very few occasions BABA revealed Him as Cosmic Controler of The Universe. In General Darshan at AMPS SCHOOL DELHI…BABA said " PARAM PURUSH resides in your mind…. He listens every smallest voice of your mind… He watches every single movement of your life… Each and every breath of your body is under His control… where even beam of sun does not reach…He goes there… there is no place in the entire Universe where you can hide yourself from Him… “. Very few time BABA expressed as GOD of Universe in General Darshan like this. Baba stopped and suddenly asked " … what do you think ? ,… is it proper that PARAM PURUSH watches you everywhere and all the time… you may be in odd positions in odd places. “…. BABA asked again pointing at Mangal Bihari “…what is your opinion ? " All Sadhakas kept quiet nobody dared to speak anything. Suddenly Mangal Bihari ( IAS officer) spoke in loud voice " Yes… yes… BABA… it is very good that you are watching us strictly all the time… then only You can save us from any upcoming danger or problem.”. BABA smiled sweetly and said “…. very very intelligent boy. “. BABA watches us all the time at all the places to save us from all upcoming dangers and problems. Truly this is greatest blissful promise of PARAM PURUSH BABA to all Margis that BABA is at back and call around us all the time at all the places to save from all upcoming problems and dangers. BE CAREFREE and go on singing Kirtan of PARAM PURUSH … “BABA NAM KEVALAM " all the time. Use Guru Mantra as much as possible before doing anything and everything. Let Iistha Mantra be our companion in every breath of our life.
BABA takes personal care
BABA takes very very personal care for each and every single Anandmargi to fight out his challenges of life at all levels ….may it be social, physical, psychological or spiritual. Here is my personal experience that how BABA supported me against insult. I was to reach Delhi urgently for organizational work from Dhanbad of Bihar state. I reached railway station in hurry and purchased ticket in hurry rushed to platform as Kalka Mail already standing on platform. A marvadi businessman also was following me to catch same train. But before I could reach Kalkamail was leaving platform with high speed. I couldn’t dare to catch running train. I just stood on platform watching passing train with great frustration. Meanwhile marvadi businessman also stood behind me crying “… oh… train gone…” He was also frustrated but next moment he looked at me and said “… hi… Swami ji… you also missed your train … what your God is doing… He could have stopped Kalkamail for you.. you are not true Saint …” Marvadi businessman laughed very very cunningly at me. I was pained deeply in my heart as he challenged my God BABA but still I kept control and replied “…you need not to worry for me…my God knows very well how to help me…” We both sat on the bench and waited for next train Bombay Mail reaching just in 30 minutes after Kalkamail. Kalkamail and Bombay Mail are on same track upto Gaya railway station afterwards they have different tracks….But as Kalkamail is superfast train can not be catched if once missed. Anyway we both entered in same compartment of Bombay Mail. After two hours of journey we reached Gaya station and came out of compartment. Suddenly marvadi businessman cried “…. look Swamiji… Kalkamail is standing… just run … we can still catch it..” . Yes surprisingly Kalkamail was standing on platform as there was some trouble with engine. Marvadi businessman touched my feet with respect and said “…. I am very very sorry…. you are true Saint…. " and he ran away for Kalkamail to catch it. I also ran for train too and moment I entered train Kalkamail strated moving slowly. I was astonished… how it could be possible Kalkamail waited for me. No… no… it was strong message of BABA that His devotees can’t be insulted at any level of life… even physical laws obeys His command to help His devotees. Be sure as Anandmargis we all are ever victorious at every level of life and against all odds of life. I personally heard BABA saying to me during field walk “….. I never mind any amount of wrong saying against me but I cannot tolerate insult of my single Anandmargi anywhere anytime in any situation in the world. " I had tears in my eyes experiencing deep fatherly love and care of BABA for us… every Anandmargi. Of course I managed to hide my tears by looking at feet of BABA. We all Anandmargiis are under blissful divine protection of PARAM PURUSH BABA all the time everywhere in the world.
Baba protects us All The Time Everywhere
BABA is protecting us for all the time everywhere. This is a small event but it defines Baba’s assurance for protection from all upcoming problems. It was pleasant evening walk with BABA on beautiful road of New Delhi passing through beautiful embassy houses of various countries on both the sides. It was blissful group of devoted Margis walking with BABA. Mangal Bihari, Dr. P k Kymal, Ravindra Dutta, R.Prasad all were walking as close as possible to listen BABA’s knowledgeable talks. BABA that evening narrated the history of all Kings of Nepal. It was highly interesting and informative talk and we all were just lost in listening it. Suddenly BABA stopped and lifted R. Prasad by his collar in air and shouted “…. look there is ditch … " and finally put him safely on the other side of ditch saying " be careful while walking “. Spontaneously R.Prasad replied “… I need not to care for me when you are taking my care…”. BABA smiled and said “… look how intelligently this boy makes me responsible for everything…”. We all smiled too with BABA. R.Prasad was quiet healthy and with good body weight but still BABA lifted him as if small child. Always remember that we all Anandmargis are well protected by divine hands of PARAM PURUSH BABA all the time at all the places in all walks of life.
Human Body
In General Darshan at Delhi AMPS school in 1968 Baba said “….. human body is gifted with wide range of energies to support spiritual growth of human mind but still generally most of human beings die without making proper uses. It is seen that commonly man dies using only 1% to 2% of his human body capacity.” Baba added “… the greatest man ever appeared on earth used only 4% of his total human body capacity. " … further Baba said " … human body is able to take care of itself automatically and revive itself if tackle properly …” BABA advised " …no doctor can cure human body if “Jivani Shakti” means natural life force is not evolved to support human existence…one can get Jivani Shakti ( Natural life force) from pure air, pure water, pure food, pure Prakash and Samyag Vyayam ( Yoga Asana etc)… these are five real doctors “….further Baba said " … human body is not designed for " Bhog " (material enjoyment ) but it is meant for “Yoga " capable of divine unification with Supreme Consciousness… Param Purush….” further Baba warned “…. if human body is used against its divine purpose i.e. spiritual goal it degrades and becomes deceased… and if human mind uses human body for extreme material desires then finally human body rejects human mind and dies… this is very very unfortunate happening… human mind in next life gets animal body or even becomes trees or stones …. this is called negative Prati Sainture…”. Human body is thought sensitive its evolution and texture of appearance follows pattern of thinking of human mind. Body of angry natured man and kind hearted man shows distinctively different appearances. It is because of hormones producing glands always follow the vibrations of thinking and act accordingly. Always remember that you are operating highly sensitive biological machine called human body may harm you or society if operated carelessly. So all thought process must follow Yam and Niyam the moral code of conducts. Just finally BABA said “…. the ownership of your human body lies with Param Purush you can not take next breath in your body without His permission. " Make the best use of your body by doing Sadhana , Service and Sacrifice for humanity.
BABA never tolerates ego of human mind
BABA never tolerate ego of human mind particularly of each and every single Sadhaka of the Universe. BABA takes all steps to remove smallest traces of ego from the minds of Sadhakas ultimately to compel him for surrendering. Here is my personal experience about BABA ’s action to set my mind on right track. It happened in year 1967 when I was posted as press manager of Anandmarg Press in Delhi. Usually BABA always used to stay for rest at Delhi during His visits to Northern India or during His visits to foreign countries. And I always used to go to Palam Airport to receive BABA in every visit. Again as usual BABA visited Delhi before going to Northern India for Dharma Maha Chakra. His flight was to land at 5 pm. I was quiet busy for printing of various magazines say Education and Culture, Cosmic Society etc. I wanted to present copies of each magazines before BABA leave Delhi for His fixed schedules. A thought came in my mind that BABA is visiting Delhi every now and then so why to waste time to receive Him at Airport instead let me finish my job… it is more good then seeing BABA at airport. And that was my greatest mistake of my life ignoring The owner of the Universe BABA. Now something odd started happening in my press. Suddenly workers of press started fighting with the staff of hotel next to our press. On the complain police arrested all the press workers. Meanwhile suddenly a heavy arm made up of steel of printing machine got broken with cracking sound. In short all activities of press stopped. I rushed to police station and some how managed release of all workers. It was 7 pm and BABA had His stay at Mangal Bihar’s residence. I reached at Mangal Bihari’s residence to see BABA. I had nothing to offer. BABA was about to reach from evening walk. I stood near staircase as it was comfortable place to see BABA. And moment BABA came near to me He shouted in little anger “… kya ho raha hai ( what is happening) “. I was stunned and speechless. I understood then there that all happened as per wish of BABA to punish me for my avoiding His welcome at airport. Again I got confirmation of His punishment in next day morning General Darshan at Anandmarg School. I was sitting in front of BABA in first row. BABA started His discourse with tone of anger “… ego of human mind is food for Param Purush. He eats ego of human mind. All the good things done by you is by the energy of PARAM PURUSH. He arranges all opportunities for good actions, all material requirements for the good activities too. You can not take credit for any good work of yours at any level. The very desire to do good comes from Him. All energy for actions comes from Him and all physical means to complete good work are also arranged by Him. So never dare to take credit for any good work done by you.”. Now I understood that BABA is addressing me only. BABA continued " …. if you try to take credit for your good work then He gives you Dhobiya pachad ( Washerman’s blow). At time of cleaning of dirty clothes Washerman lift the clothes above his head and next moment throws on flat stone to clean it. When clothes are up above the head of Washerman it think it is more powerful than washerman but next moment it is grounded on stone. The same fate of all egotistic people. “. Finally BABA give confirmation of His punishment to me by saying “…. look if PARAM PURUSH wants to break any steel part into pieces, He does not require hammer but only by HIS simple wish it will be done. " Now I connected the event of broken machine part of my printing machine with the statement of BABA. Yes all was done by my beloved BABA to remind me that He is of highest priority in all walks of life. To sat my mind on right track my beloved BABA allowed loss to His mission…. yes it is fatherly love and care of PARAM PURUSH BABA for me. I heard BABA saying for me to senior workers “…. He ( myself) will learn by mistakes and become good worker”. So… BABA is real owner of the Universe so do not dare to ignore Him for any reason of physical, psychological or spiritual order and avoid punishment from Prakriti ( His governing principles of The Universe).
Baba demonstrates death
PARAM PURUSH BABA has created the entire Universe from Himself … evolving and growing entire Universe in His divine lap and finally He withdraws the Universe part by part back in Him. So in short BABA is living GOD exists every where in the Universe and also He exists beyond the boundaries of the Universe too. Often BABA had demonstrated HIS infinite ability of GOD HOOD. In year 1968 in morning at Baba Quarter in Delhi we all Anandmargis waited for BABA for General Darshan. BABA arrived and sat on His seat and looked at us with sweet and blissful smile. BABA started His discourse “…Human body is beautiful self- contained biological machine. Human existence is threefold. It is unity of body, mind and soul. The bond of mind and soul is of permanent nature while human body joins the journey periodically. And every departure of body from mind is called death of human life. Human body helps human mind to exhaust reactive momenta of past actions of mind and also helps to establish unification with Supreme Consciousness…. the final destination of journey of human mind. “.
Baba explained that there are four causes of death.
- Physical causes: It is due to old age, disease, physical injury etc.
- Psychic death: It is due intense shock created in mind by extreme good news or bad news.
- Negative Pratisinchar (2nd half part of Cosmic cycle). When anyone uses his body extremely for physical joy only then human body rejects human mind and dies out.It is most unfortunate category of death as after death human mind in this case gets degenerated to animal levels or trees or crude matter and next birth is accordingly.
- Maha Mrityu : It is the highest category of end of human life when human mind reaches perfection. Sadhana and leaves human body as per his wishes and merges into Supreme Consciousness. It is final death. No more births and no more deaths.
Suddenly Baba pointed at one Sadhaka and said “… you young boy come here and sit before me.”. A young Anandmargi named Ravindra came forward and sat before BABA in Padmasan (Lotus posture). Now BABA said “… all the functions of the human body are maintained and controlled by ten Vayus ( flowing energies). Before death of human body all Vayus leave body one by one and body stops functioning respectively part by part. “. BABA asked Ravindra to perform Bhut Suddhi and Asana Suddhi. Baba said " I will remove first Vayu and he will lose power of speech, hearing and seeing.”. BABA whispered some Mantra and ordered first Vayu to leave the body. BABA continued “… now this boy is cut off from the physical world. He can’t hear, speak and see anything still He is alive. Now I am removing second Vayu from his body. And his breathing will be stopped and heart will be stopped.” BABA again whispered and removed second Vayu and suddenly Ravindra slowly fell flat on the floor. BABA became serious said " …is there any Doctor here ? …come here and check up this boy. " Immediately Dr.Rana came forward and checked op Ravindra and said with very heavy voice " BABA he is dead… no breathing… no heart beats. “. BABA said " … yes he is clinically dead but actually alive as his mind has not left the body. If proper treatment is done this boy will alive again. Today also 30% of people die before their actual deaths as they are clinically declared dead. In future humans will learn to restore life with proper knowledge and treatment. “. By all this time all the Margis including me were stunned and speechless. BABA again continued “… if this boy remains in this condition more than his body will start decaying so I am restoring his all Vayus back.” BABA closed His eyes and whispered some Mantra and ordered Vayus to reenter the body of Ravindra. BABA said now first breathe of this boy will be from mouth and it will be long. It happened exactly as BABA said. Ravindra took very long breath by mouth.
There is still much remaining to write in this article but in short this body is divine gift of GOD say BABA and its ownership is with Him only and you can not take second breath without His permission. Surrender all your wishes and desires to lotus feet of PARAM PURUSH BABA. Do maximum Kirtan, Sadhana, Dhyan and Service to all suffering Humanity. Delhi demonstration was just before my naked eyes…. the audience was made up of doctors, engineers, government officials, students etc. I could only describe 10 % of real happening. It few pages to describe total event.
Baba demonstrates effects of bad habits
In year 1967 BABA visited Delhi and all Anandmargiis gathered at Baba Quarter for General Darshan in the morning. BABA arrived and took His seat with blissful smile. He started His discourse with serious tone “…. look in the human life your bad habits play very damaging role during evolution of your character and finally give big dent in physical, psychic and spiritual growth. The damage done by bad habits are seen in next birth too.”. BABA stopped and pointed to one Sadhaka and asked him to stand before Him. BABA asked Sadhaka to remove the shirt and undershirt. It was very unique formation. He had a shrunken liver. BABA said " ….this boy was Saint in previous life but had no control over hunger. He used eat limitlessly and finally damaged his liver. And he is now born with damaged liver in this life too. It is punishment by Prakriti (Controlling Principles of Universe). But otherwise he was good Sadhaka and again in this life he learned Sadhana. " . Then afterwards BABA gave some personal Yoga Asanas and tips to care for his damaged liver. Then afterwards BABA stared at one another Sadhaka and asked him to come near to Him. He was young Sadhaka and was very very reluctant to come near BABA. Anyway he stood before BABA looking at the feet of BABA. Again BABA asked Sadhaka to remove shirt and undershirt. Baba said pointing his left side of stomach “… do you see his right side of stomach is compressed. He was attacked by crocodile on the stomach while swimming in river water and was killed. In this life he is born with signs of teeth cuts of crocodiles on stomach side. “. BABA continued “… in this very life he has great fear from river water. " . And BABA asked Sadhaka “… how you feel stepping in river water ?”. Sadhak replied “… yes BABA …I have always some unknown fear from the river water. I always feel something will come out and attack me. " From above both incidents it is clear that human existence is continuous process. All events and habits in life leave behind on physical body and psycho - spiritual existence for ever. So always cultivate good habits useful for our physical, psychic and spiritual evolution. Always follow Yam and Niyam ( moral code of conducts). Do maximum Kirtan " BABA NAM KEVALAM " and Sadhana. Do as much possible services to suffering Humanity.
This event reminds me BABA ’ s saying that He spoke to me while walking “… if you want to know BABA then take up any good work of service to humanity and you will see no power will able to stop you. "
You must try understand this event in the perspective of exhausting reactive momenta. It is Cosmic arrangement of removal of reactions of past actions. Bigger the past reactions then Bigger will be arrangement of Prakriti to exhaust it. The Sadhaka who sacrificed their lives were just waiting for theirs final destination called Moksha ( merging into Cosmic Conciousness). And Prakriti arranged a heroic departure for these elevated Souls. It may look pathetic and painful to common people like us. I have witnessed departure of Ac. Dineshwaranand Avdhuta who self immolated with blissful divine smile on face. BABA said " birth, marriage and death are always under control of PARAM PURUSH.”. Time and place for death is fixed for each and every single person. Finally I recall BABA ’s saying “… Param Purush plans each and every thing before He comes to earth. You can not understand why this happens. It is beyond the capacity of your small brain to understand and analyze the planning of PARAM PURUSH. "
Taraka Brahma comes to earth with full planning
While walking with BABA from Ranchi Jagruti BABA explained about TARAK BRAHMA and how His mission gets established on the earth. BABA said “… Before coming to earth PARAM PURUSH as TARAK BRAHMA he plans all the sequences of events. All the events will be like story of detective novel full of suspense and surprises till the end. In Anandmarga every day will begin with the surprise. " BABA stopped and continued again “…. in the battle of Mahabharat all hundreds sons of Gandhari were killed. So when Gandhari the mother of Kauravas asked Lord Krishna that why He being GOD did not corrected nature of children instead got them killed in battle of Mahabharat. Lord Krishna kept quiet. He never wanted to hurt mother any more by saying that it was His plan. “.
BABA continued “…so all events of Mahabharat were pre-planned and all characters carry messages for human society to follow-up. For example 5% United moralist can fight out 100% of immoralist just like five moralist Pandavas defeated hundreds of immoralist Kauravas. Arjun was very very ordinary man but he was following all the instructions and advices of Lord Krishna and became most celebrated warrior hero of Mahabharat battle. And on the other hand Bhisma one strongest character of Mahabharat had to die because he supported immoralist Kauravas. Since then a proverb exists “…… where there is Iistha ( GOD or Spiritual Teacher Guru), there remains Dharma ( the very desire to be one with PARAMPURUSH). And where Dharma remains there comes permanent Victory. “. Again BABA continued “….. it was greatest example of evil of gambling was set by Lord Krishna in the form of battle of Mahabharat. Entire battle of Mahabharat was caused by gambling played between both Pandavas and Kauravas. And now a days gambling has entered in blood stream of all the societies all over the world.” BABA added “…why this happens you can not understand because human brain cells and nerves are not capable of thinking and imagine ways of PARAM PURUSH. If you will try to analyze why this happens then your brain will bust out. " Finally BABA said “…. PARAM PURUSH runs the Universe by HIS whims not by your logics. “.
So let us surrender all our wishes, desires and logics to the lotus feet of PARAM PURUSH BABA and do maximum Kirtan BABA NAM KEVALAM, Sadhana and Service to suffering Humanity and make our human existence greatest SUCCESS.
Power of Second Lesson
A very very inspiring and heart touching experience of power of 2nd lesson Guru Mantra during my tour in north Bihar. I was posted as ZO ( Zonal Organizer) in Bihar state in my beginning years of organization 1965-66. I was assigned duty for Prachar in north Bihar. I reached village called Barahi of Sitamadhi District. I reached house of Ramkumar ji around 1 pm. He was sitting on wooden kot and making his 3 year old child laugh by making different sounds of animals and birds. He is farmer and also practiced homeopathic treatment in the village. Moment he saw me he got up did pranam and ask me to sit comfortably on kot. He just went inside house and came out with plate of Dahi-Chura and glass of water. He lost his wife last year. But he has strong faith in Baba. While eating he sat before me on wooden chair keeping his boy on his lap. Child was healthy and had sharp beautiful features. I asked Ramkumar what is his name. “Shiva Kumar …” he replied. Suddenly he had tears in his eyes and said " Shiva is just survived by grace of BABA. " …” What happened ?” I inquired with some surprise. Ramkumar narrated detailed story……” …just few months back Shiv got fever. I thought it is just ordinary fever and started treatment of homeopathy medicine available with me. But it didn’t worked. Meanwhile there was heavy rainfall in our area. All roads were blocked. Shiva was restless and breathing heavily. It was late night. I was sitting in front of Shiv watching him gasping heavily by mouth. I was helpless and suddenly filled with fear started crying " BABA …BABA…” … At the same time a thought came in my mind and I brought out one medicine from box and took Guru Mantra (2nd lesson) and put in the open mouth of Shiva. I never used Guru Mantra before for anything because of my negligence. I spoke in my mind " BABA…. Shiva is your child… now I leave up to you only for everything. “… Suddenly I show Shiva stopped gasping and started breathing normally. My eyes got brighter. Suddenly Shiv demanded milk… he was feeling hungry.. I rushed to kitchen got glass of hot milk for Shiva… then afterwards Shiva slept peacefully…Next day Shiva looked healthier and few days after totally recovered…” … Ramkumar cried at finishing of story “…. BABA is God…He is always with us …” …I was stunned by listening story of Ramkumar …that how BABA helped through applying Guru Mantra through him only. BABA wanted Ramkumar to know that how important is Guru Mantra….. We all Anandmargis are blessed with powerful Kirtan Mantra " BABA NAM KEVALAM”… Iistha Mantra… Guru Mantra to fight out one and all problems of life.
Baba explains future of PROUT
It was monthly reporting time in Ranchi Office and all Chief Secretaries, Finance Secretaries, PRS Ac. Jagdishwaranand Av., Ac. Ramanand Av.,Shashi Ranjan MP, Ac. Raghunath ji etc all were collected in front of BABA. After reporting in very light mood Shashi Ranjan MP asked BABA when and where our PROUTIST government will form. BABA became serious and said “…. first PROUTIST government will be formed in a small state which will be connected to the sea and land both sides. It will be run fully according to PROUT PRINCIPLES and will be most idealistic example for others to follow. PROUTIST State will show tremendous growth in all the fields in very short period and all will be attracted by seeing growth and prosperity.”. BABA stopped and continued “… in beginning first year the PROUTIST Government will use all its resources to develop agriculture and agroindustries, so that all the citizens get sufficient food at minimum cost and efforts. There will be all minimum guarantees food and clothing will be solved in first phase. This will create a healthy human working force. Then afterwards science and technology will be raised to its highest level. Technology will be used to reduce human physical labour and the time saved will be used for spiritual practice of all. In case of evolution of technology the man power will not be reduced instead working hours will be reduced without reducing working staff. the all the entertainment like cinema,TV, radio, theaters all will be guided and supervised by education ministry to preserve and protect moral values of human society. All that encouraging animalistic instincts, hatreds, violence will not be shown.Doctors and Teachers will be given best available facilities of life along with due respect so that they can serve society in best interests. The respect from the society will compensate their economical losses. Polish and military personnel will be given extra care for their spiritual growth as they have to fight against immoralist and evils of society. " BABA stopped and continued again with smile “…. in PROUTIST government nobody will like to become ministers because they will have to work hard and for any bad happening thy will be first held responsible and may be punished for negligence.. " I was finance secretary of PFI and I was present during all discussions. But entire matter was about how to materialize the principles of PROUT discussed in meeting by BABA.
How habits settle down in mind and human body
In Patliputra General Darshan BABA explained how habits good or bad settle down in mind and get deeply rooted in the human body. Baba said when same action is repeated in course of time becomes habit. And finally mind remains more and more involved in particular habits. As long as habits are good and positive helps human beings to evolve and successful in their lives. But in case of bad habits mind gets degraded to animal levels even more. What is biological science behind habits ? Baba nicely explained “…. human mind perform actions by sending messages to body through particular nerve and body acts accordingly. When you perform same action more and more repeatedly through the particular nerve … it gets thicker and stronger to carry out particular desire of mind easily. Now it becomes always easier for mind to do the same activity without much involvement as body knows to do it well….called reflex action. Now in case of bad habit same thing happens body takes command from particular nerve and starts acting and mind surrenders under pressure of thick and strong nerve. It is like from overhead water tank pipe with bigger diameter draws more water then pipe of small diameter gets less quantity of supply. Nerve of habit is stronger than others hence drains out all will force of mind in its own way only and mind becomes helpless obeys nerve of habit. Now if habit is good then there is no problem but in case of bad habits it is dangerous for self and society. Further Baba said " For example if one is in habit of becoming angry he will not able to stop his anger for one and all will destroy his personal and social life..there is no surgery available to reduce thick and strong nerve responsible for bad habit. Only way is you have to stop using that particular nerve.”… Baba explained… “… if you stop using your hand it will become thin and loose its strength… same way keep away from bad habit and ultimately nerve carrying that habit will thin out automatically and your bad habit will stop….” Yes… ignore bad habit by cultivating good habit ….say do more and more spiritual Sadhana and your bad nerve will soon be out of action. Sadhana is real solution for all psychological disorders. Do more and more Sadhana, Kirtan,Dhyan and Yoga Asana to evolve divinity.
Sadhana is the real solution for all your problems
BABA arrived from His first visit from the Philippines to Delhi at Mangal Bihari’s residence. It was a long journey, and BABA needed rest. In the evening after dinner, BABA went to His room to sleep. I was standing as a guard at the door of the room. Ramanand Dada was with BABA to discuss some organizational work.
At the end of the talk, BABA told Ramanand Dada, pointing at me, “… send that Pahelvan (wrestler) to me for a massage.” BABA used to call me by the name “Pahelvan” as I had a good body build.
Before I was called by BABA, a group of local Margis approached me and requested me to ask BABA, “… why do various types of troubles and problems start the moment we do Sadhana?” Anyway, I promised the Margis, “I will ask BABA and get His answer for you.”
Now Ramanand Dada came to me and instructed me to do a proper massage for BABA as He had lots of body pain due to the long journey. I entered BABA’s room and first did Sastang Pranam and sat near BABA. I started pressing BABA’s shoulder and arm with soft hands. BABA’s body was very soft and a beautiful fragrance of sandalwood was coming out from His body.
Suddenly, BABA opened His eyes and asked me to tell some news about the Margis. BABA looked so much satisfied and blissful that I immediately thought to ask BABA the queries of the Margis. I told BABA, “… some Margis wanted to know the reasons behind all troubles and problems starting with Sadhana.”
The moment I finished my sentence, BABA got up with a jerk in the bed and shouted at me with anger, “… Kya Bola… Kya Bola (What are you speaking)?” Seeing BABA angry, I was shaking like a leaf out of fear. I was very, very nervous seeing BABA in anger.
Again BABA repeated, “… Kya Bola… Kya Bola…?” This time BABA asked me in a soft voice. I had just recovered from the shock of BABA’s anger and replied, “… BABA, while I was coming to You, some Margis wanted to know why the troubles and problems come with Sadhana (Spiritual Practice).”
This time BABA asked me with a smile, “… kya tumhe Sadhana se koi taklif hui? (Have you ever faced trouble while doing Sadhana?)” I was extremely stunned by watching BABA’s swing of mood from extreme anger to sweet, loving BABA.
Anyway, I replied, “… No BABA, I have never suffered any kind of trouble due to Sadhana.” BABA again, with a very sweet voice, said, “… Now onwards, give your example to everyone and tell them no troubles and problems come with Sadhana.”
Afterwards, BABA asked me to continue with the massage. This time BABA corrected my way of massage by pressing my shoulder and arm. I massaged BABA for a long time. But all the time, I was astonished by the type of duty allotted to me to convince Margis about the Sadhana.
The next day in General Darshan, BABA explained, “… When you perform Sadhana, all your past Samskaras (reactive momenta) come to the surface and you feel disturbances in all ways of life. But you must not be afraid of all disturbances. They will soon get exhausted. If you feel disturbances, do more and more Sadhana. Sadhana and Iishta Mantra will burn out all seeds of Samskaras (reactive momenta). When all the Samskaras burn out, you will become Dagdha Bija (burnt seeds of reactive momenta). Burnt seeds never sprout—same way burnt Samskaras will never create disturbances in your life.”
This event is the greatest guideline for me in my entire life till today. The moment I am in trouble, first of all, I do intensive Sadhana (Spiritual Practice).
BABA always said, “… When problems come, then look at PARAM PURUSH, not at problems. Problems come from Param Purush, so solutions will also come from Him only.” To solve all problems, do maximum Kirtan “BABA NAM KEVALAM,” Sadhana, Dhyan, and service to suffering humanity as per your best available capacities.
My Blissful Encounter with Baba at Anand Purnima DMC, 1965 – Patna
It was Anand Purnima of 1965, and the DMC was being held at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. I had come from Jamalpur, full of excitement and devotion, to attend the grand occasion. Upon reaching the pandal, my heart began to beat faster—I sensed something divine was about to happen.
As I approached the stage area, I saw Baba coming towards the dais, encircled by Shashi Ranjan, MP; Ram Tanuk Ji; Raghunath Dada; Sujit Ji; and several VSS volunteers. The whole group was moving in a solemn procession towards the stage. At that very moment, an irresistible wave of devotion surged within me. I felt an intense, almost uncontrollable desire to touch Baba’s lotus feet.
Without thinking, I leapt forward and fell at His feet, grabbing them with all my heart and soul. The entire crowd around Baba was stunned by what they perceived as a bold and unexpected move. The volunteers immediately rushed to lift me away, but Baba, with a silent gesture, calmed them. He allowed me to remain at His feet—an infinite blessing I could hardly comprehend at the time.
Overwhelmed by emotion, I held Baba’s sacred hand and reverently rubbed it on my forehead. At that moment, Baba looked at me with a sweet, compassionate smile and said softly, “Thik hai… thik hai…” (“It is all right… it is all right…”).
Then, He closed His eyes for a few moments, as if entering a deep meditative state. When He opened them again, He looked directly at me and said in a calm, divine tone:
“Look… when you inhale, take into your existence all the pains of the universe. And in return, when you exhale, spread the eternal bliss and joy of your existence into the entire universe.”
I was only 20 years old at the time, a young boy freshly out of engineering studies. I had no philosophical background or understanding of such profound truths. Yet even without grasping the full meaning of His words, I felt something deep and indescribable happening within me.
A blissful vibration surged through my entire body—soothing, peaceful, and all-encompassing. I was bathed in an ocean of divine joy.
Soon after, the VSS volunteers gently lifted me and moved me out of Baba’s path. The moment passed, but something in me had forever changed.
Looking back, I now see that this moment was not only a blessing—it was a foretelling of my future. Not long after this encounter, I surrendered myself fully to Baba’s mission and became a whole-time worker in His divine service.
That sacred touch, that smile, those words—they were the seeds of my spiritual journey. Baba had not just touched my forehead; He had touched my soul.
Param Purush BABA Responds to Every Cry of Our Mind
It was the demonstration year of Ananda Marga in the late 1960s, and BABA visited Delhi. We all Ananda Margis gathered at BABA’s quarters for General Darshan. BABA entered the hall with a blissful, divine smile and took His seat on the sofa. He looked at everyone from left to right in one graceful glance.
He began His discourse in a serious tone:
“In the spiritual journey towards Param Purush, there is great importance in anubhutis (spiritual experiences). These experiences encourage you to move faster towards your spiritual goal. If you are not experiencing any anubhuti, then rectify your sadhana (spiritual practice) with the help of a senior sadhaka or Acharya (spiritual teacher).”
After this, BABA paused and pointed at Santoshanand Avadhuta, asking him to come near and sit before Him. Santoshanand Dada rose and sat in Padmasana. BABA closed His eyes for a while, then opened them, looked at Santoshanand, and instructed:
“Do Bhuta Shuddhi and Asana Shuddhi.”
BABA closed His eyes again, then opened them and said:
“Imagine yourself as a small particle of light… now make yourself even smaller… smaller… and still smaller…”
As soon as Santoshanand followed BABA’s voice, he slipped into Samadhi (spiritual trance). BABA said:
“This boy is enjoying the deep proximity of Brahma Bhava (the flow of pure Cosmic Consciousness).”
Soon, Santoshanand fell flat on the floor. BABA said:
“He will remain like this for a long time. Someone should stay with him after General Darshan to look after him.”
Following the demonstration, BABA spoke about various types of Savikalpa Samadhi. After General Darshan, Santoshanand remained in Samadhi for two long hours.
While returning from BABA’s quarters, S. Venu Gopalan joined me. Suddenly, he asked me a very strange question:
“Dada, you are also a good worker, but BABA always calls Santoshanand Dada for spiritual demonstrations and never you. Doesn’t that mean you are not a good sadhaka, or that something is lacking in you?”
I was stunned by his remark. Somehow, I regained composure and replied:
“I will get my chance when BABA desires.”
But I was very hurt inside and slowly drifted away from him. That night, I couldn’t sleep. The thought haunted me: “Why is BABA not calling me? Is BABA not happy with me?” I lay in bed, and eventually, I began to cry.
The next morning, we arranged a morning walk with BABA at Lodhi Garden Park, a beautiful place full of flowers, trees, and a few historic monuments. We followed BABA through the garden until He chose a nice spot under a tree. We all sat in a circle around Him. Present were devoted Margis of Delhi such as R. Prasad, Mangal Bihari, Dr. P. K. Kymal, S. Venu Gopalan, Ravindra Dutta, and some VSS volunteers.
Suddenly, BABA said:
“I want to hear a bhajan (devotional song). Is there anyone who will sing for me?”
Everyone was speechless. At that time—this being the late ’60s—no Prabhat Samgiita had been given by BABA yet, and most were government officials unfamiliar with devotional singing.
BABA then said:
“Do you know the story of the two citizens from Lucknow who missed their train because they kept insisting the other go first?”
That moment, I felt an inner push and began singing the popular devotional song:
“Tumhi ho Mata, Pita Tumhi ho…” (You are my Mother, You are my Father…)
As I progressed in the song, I reached the line:
“The flower that was not able to blossom by itself, that flower is myself… now please grace me with all your blessings and love.”
While singing, I poured out all the pain of the previous night and silently pleaded for BABA’s Divine Grace. During the song, BABA became very serious.
After the walk, we returned to BABA’s quarters for General Darshan. BABA came and sat on the sofa. We all waited eagerly for His discourse. Suddenly, BABA pointed His finger at me and said:
“You, Gunadhishanand, come near Me.”
I was astonished by the sudden call. With confusion and anticipation, I moved toward BABA and sat before Him. My mind was racing: “Is BABA going to perform a spiritual demonstration on me? I’m not a good sadhaka… How will I understand the spiritual happenings?”
Then BABA, in a very soft voice and sweet smile, said:
“You need not worry about anything. I am going to help you.”
The moment His words reached my ears, my mind calmed down completely. Confidence returned, and I waited for BABA’s next instruction.
He told me to sit in Padmasana and perform Bhuta Shuddhi and Asana Shuddhi. I followed His instructions. Then I heard BABA’s powerful but sweet voice:
“Take your mind out of your body… expand your mind… expand more and more… cross the boundaries of the universe… expand even more and more…”
I could hear BABA only for a little while longer. Then my mind was flooded with a soothing divine glow. I expanded in all directions as glowing energy and was finally lost in an endless ocean of light.
When I regained awareness, a few Margis were trying to lift me. I opened my eyes and asked:
“Where is BABA?”
One Margi replied:
“Dada, you were in Samadhi for two hours. General Darshan ended long ago. BABA has already left, but instructed us to take care of you.”
I had tears in my eyes. I had truly experienced BABA’s divine blessing. My entire existence was filled with a bliss beyond words—pure, divine joy.
In the spiritual journey, only BABA’s kripá (blessing) is everything.
BABA protects each and every Anandmargi all the time, at all places in the world
I was instructed by Ramanand Dada (Personal Assistant to BABA) to immediately go to BABA’s room and give Him a massage. I promptly reached BABA’s room and entered. BABA was resting on the bed with His eyes closed. I did Sastang Pranam, sat near His feet, and began pressing gently with soft hands.
With His eyes still closed, BABA asked, “Gunadhiishanand, tell me some good news about the Margis in Delhi.”
I narrated all the progressive news about the propagation of Ananda Marga throughout Delhi. After listening, BABA seemed relaxed and said, “Bahut Sundar (very nice).”
Then BABA turned to His right side and began speaking while looking into my eyes: “Do you know, Gunadhiishanand Maharaj, what happened by the blessing of Gunadhiishanand Maharaj?” BABA deliberately used the word Maharaj for me to make me feel more comfortable. At that moment, I understood that BABA was pleased with me.
With a smile, BABA continued: “By the blessings of Gunadhiishanand Maharaj, Ramashray ji’s life was saved… tell me, how?”
“In 1964, there was a terrible wave of cholera epidemic in Bihar state, especially in Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, etc. People were dying within a few hours of infection. Unfortunately, Ramashray visited Gaya city during the peak of the epidemic and got infected. The number of deaths was so high that trucks were being used to carry away dead bodies. Ramashray was presumed dead, and his body was about to be loaded onto a truck when a doctor came for a final inspection.”
BABA paused, smiled at me, and said: “Then, by the blessings of Gunadhiishanand Maharaj, Ramashray’s pulse and breathing started again. The doctor shouted at the volunteers, ‘Stop! This man is alive! Move him quickly to the camp for treatment.’ And thus, Ramashray ji survived.”
“Do you know, Gunadhiishanand, Ramashray was the only earning member of his large family? The entire family would have been in deep trouble if he had died.”
BABA finished the story and looked at me with a deeply blissful expression. I too was moved to the core of my heart, witnessing BABA’s personal care for every single Sadhaka and Anandmargi.
So, let us become true Anandmargis by following the 16 Points, doing maximum Sadhana, and serving suffering humanity.
Baba Demonstrated Kirtan
This happened in Patna, in my presence. It was just a few months after the declaration of the Kirtan Mahamantra during a General Darshan. Baba explained that whenever and wherever Kirtan is performed, Param Purusha reaches there spontaneously.
Then, Baba called a Margi brother named Ravindra and asked him to do Kirtan in Lalita Mudrá. Ravindra began doing Kirtan. Baba gently corrected his actions, and soon Ravindra became absorbed in the rhythm of “BABA Nam Kevalam” Kirtan.
Baba returned to His subject and explained further: “Wherever Kirtan is performed Param Purush reaches then and there at that place. It becomes a Bhávana Tírtha.” Baba explained that Bhávana Tírtha is like Kámadhenu, the divine wish-fulfilling cow, which fulfills all desires that are good for the self and society, but it never fulfills desires that are harmful to oneself or to society.
Baba paused and continued: “Again, when you do Kirtan, the mind rises to higher levels of consciousness. So, after Kirtan, one must not immediately engage in worldly activities. Instead, one must perform spiritual Sádhaná. If you get involved in worldly affairs right after Kirtan, the mind undergoes a crash landing—it falls from the higher state of consciousness to the material world, and becomes even more crude than it was before.”
Baba went on, explaining many spiritual meanings of Kirtan.
During all that time, Ravindra continued doing Kirtan with his eyes closed and a blissful smile on his face, completely forgetting everything around him. Baba then pointed to Ravindra and said, “This boy is totally tuned with the Kirtan mantra. His mind is one with the Cosmic Flow, and his body is coupled with the Cosmic Momentum. He will not get tired for many, many hours of doing Kirtan, because his body is drawing energy from the Cosmic Momentum.”
After the General Darshan, before leaving the hall, Baba asked some Margis to remain there and look after Ravindra. Ravindra continued Kirtan for quite some time. Eventually, someone gently touched him. As soon as he opened his eyes, Ravindra cried, “BABA… BABA…” and started searching for Baba.
So, through Kirtan, not only does the mind get tuned with the Cosmic Consciousness, but the body also aligns with the Cosmic Rhythm. That is why no one gets exhausted doing Kirtan for long durations.
Baba always said:
“When you perform Sádhaná, you try to reach Param Purusha. But when you perform Kirtan—BABA Nam Kevalam—then Param Purusha comes to you.”
Therefore, always do Kirtan first, and then perform spiritual Sádhaná.
“You Are Never an Extra Burden to Param Purush”
In the morning general darshan, Baba looked very, very blissful at the Delhi Baba Quarters. After sitting on the sofa, Baba looked at all the Margis from right to left with a blissful, divinely smiling face. Baba began speaking on the topic of how Param Purush manages the entire Universe. He said:
“My boys, you must be thinking that this vast Universe—with stars, galaxies, the sun, planets, moon, earth, and all forms of living beings from ants to elephants, including all human beings—must be managed by Param Purush with the use of enormous energy. So tell me, how much energy is required by Param Purush to maintain the Universe?” All the Margis remained silent, as no one knew what to say. Baba continued with a smile:
“Param Purush uses the same amount of energy to maintain an ant as He does to maintain the entire Universe at the same time. He uses very little energy for all His work. There is no extra burden on Param Purush.”
Then Baba narrated a story: The story is of a farmer and a king. The king was traveling through the countryside on an elephant. On the way, he saw a farmer walking with a heavy bag on his head. The king stopped the elephant and invited the farmer to ride with him.
After some time, the king noticed that the farmer was still carrying the heavy bag on his head. The king asked, “Why are you carrying the luggage on your head? Put it on the back of the elephant.”
The farmer foolishly replied, “Oh my kind King, I don’t want to give your elephant any extra burden, so I’m carrying it on my head.”
We are all like that farmer. Though we know for certain that the Universe is maintained by Param Purush and by His Prakriti (Mother Nature), still we try to overburden ourselves with the ego of doing everything ourselves.
This is the key to everlasting joy and bliss: “Leave all your problems—of the physical world, the psychic mind, and spiritual evolution—at the lotus feet of Param Purush Baba and be carefree.”…..And enjoy the divine joy-ride of the Universe while sitting in the lap of Param Purush Baba by doing maximum Kirtan—“Baba Nam Kevalam”—along with Sadhana and service to suffering humanity.
“The Entire Universe Is Within You”
This was a very unique and unforgettable demonstration given by Baba during a General Darshan. All of us were eagerly waiting for Baba that evening at the M.G. Quarter in Delhi. When He arrived, Baba was in a deeply blissful mood. He looked at each of us with profound love, and then suddenly called forward Mahadevan, a senior Margi from Delhi.
Baba gently asked him to sit in front of Him and instructed, “Do Bhúta Shuddhi and Ásana Shuddhi. Take your mind to the Ájiṋa Cakra. Now… come out of your body.”
We were stunned. The air around us became charged with sacred silence.
Baba continued, “Take your mind to the South… farther… still farther… What do you see now?”
Mahadevan, in a joyful voice, replied, “Baba, I see a vast, roaring ocean! I am enjoying the cool breeze. It’s so beautiful!”
Baba smiled and said, “Very nice. Now move to the North… far… farther still. Tell me what you see.”
After a short pause, Mahadevan suddenly shouted with excitement, “Big… big mountains! Snow is everywhere! Baba, it is very, very cold here!”
Baba responded with joy, “Yes, yes! You are now in the Himalayas.”
Finally, Baba told him to return and begin his sádhaná. Mahadevan, now immersed in meditation, looked radiant and deeply content.
Baba then addressed all of us with great compassion: “Look, the entire Universe is within you. There is no need to go anywhere. Don’t waste your time running after things outside. Everything you experience externally is just a shadow. The real universe is within you—not only the universe, but the Creator and Controller of it, Paramá Puruśa, also resides within you.”
In this demonstration, Mahadevan didn’t just imagine the ocean or the Himalayas—he experienced their actual existence from within. This shows that the entire universe, along with Paramá Puruśa, truly exists inside each and every one of us.
So let us joyfully realize and explore this inner universe by tuning ourselves with the Kiirtan mantra “BABA NAM KEVALAM” and by going deeper into our sádhaná.
Let us serve the entire humanity with the ideation of Paramá Puruśa BABA, and turn every action into meditation with the help of the Guru Mantra.
The Divine Structure of the Human Mind and the Path of True Bhakti
(Inspired by the teachings of BABA)
The human mind, based on its functioning, is divided into three distinct parts:
- Citta – the crude mind, also called the “done-I”; it stores impressions and reacts instinctively to the world.
- Ahamtattva – the ego, or the “doer-I”; it identifies itself as the doer of actions.
- Mahattattva – the causal or “knower-I”; the highest layer of mind, associated with deep intuition and spiritual awareness.
In day-to-day life, only Citta and Ahamtattva are generally active. The Mahattattva—our highest mental layer—remains dormant, like a silent reservoir of immense potential. It contains the subtle abilities and divine wisdom of the soul, yet often remains unused for lifetimes.
BABA revealed a stunning truth:
“The average human being uses only 1% of the mind’s true potential during their lifetime. Even the greatest personalities who have ever appeared on this earth could use only 4% of their mental energy.”
Why is such vast potential left untapped? BABA explains with great compassion:
“Your mind has immense power. Yet you feel helpless, weak, and powerless—because your mind is scattered in thousands of directions. It is like sunlight—when dispersed, it appears ordinary. But when concentrated through a lens, it can burn. What scatters your mind? Desires. Your worldly desires pull your mind in all directions, making you feel like a poor, powerless being.”
The Inner Workings of the Human Mind
The human mind performs two essential functions:
- Thinking – generating ideas, emotions, concepts, and desires.
- Remembering – storing and recalling experiences, impressions, and learned knowledge.
These two processes shape the entire structure of your personality and destiny.
But the most remarkable quality of the mind is this: It becomes what it thinks about. That’s why Baba says:
“As you think, so you become.”
If you continuously think about crude, materialistic desires—money, fame, physical pleasures—your mind begins to lose its human refinement. It becomes gross, heavy, and fragmented. If such degeneration continues, one can lose the elevated consciousness of humanity itself—and sink into lower forms of existence, even animal or inert states.
This is a tragic misuse of the divine gift of human life.
So Baba warns:
“Worldly desires are deadly poison for the human mind.”
Use the material world only as a tool to maintain your physical body—not as the aim of your life. Withdraw your mind from the glittering illusions of physicality. Turn your thoughts inward and upward, toward your divine destiny.
Use your thinking to focus on the Supreme. Use your remembering to keep alive the sweetness of His presence and your longing to merge in Him.
What Is Real Bhakti?
Baba lovingly teaches:
“Withdraw your mind from all directions. Make it pointed with one desire— the desire to become one with the Supreme Consciousness, Param Purush. This pure, singular desire is called Bhakti.”
True Bhakti is not begging for miracles or rewards. It is the heartfelt, unconditional longing to love and serve Param Purush—not for any gain, but simply because your soul yearns to unite with Him.
This one-pointed desire transforms your scattered mental energy into a blazing light of spiritual power.
It is only through Bhakti that human life becomes meaningful, successful, and divinely fulfilled.
The Path to Brahmahood
Surrender your entire existence—your body, your mind, your soul—at the Lotus Feet of Param Purush BABA.
Reach the Supreme Goal of Brahmahood through:
- Kirtan – chanting the divine mantra: “BABA Nam Kevalam” (Only the Name of the Beloved exists)
- Sádhaná – regular spiritual practice
- Sevá – selfless service to suffering humanity
Let your life become a shining lamp of devotion, discipline, and love.
Chant His Name with your heart and soul: “BABA Nam Kevalam” —Only Love is Real. Only He is.
Bhakta, Bhakti, and Bhagaván
Bhakta (Devotee), Bhakti (Devotion), and Bhagaván (Param Puruṣa, the Supreme Consciousness) are one and inseparable. Explaining Bhakti Tattva is therefore as subtle and profound as defining Param Puruṣa Himself. Yet, out of His boundless compassion, BABA has revealed the secrets of Bhakti in the simple language of the heart.
Baba explains that the attraction of the mind, when directed toward worldly objects, becomes kāma-vāsanā (lust), but when directed toward Param Puruṣa, it transforms into Bhakti—pure devotion. Each of us has a full reservoir of attraction say 100 percent within us. It is up to us to either let it devolve into lust or evolve it into Bhakti, the absolute love for the Supreme.
Human life has evolved after countless lifetimes in animal form, where we primarily inherited instinctual tendencies. The first divine grace of Param Puruṣa is the awakening of desire to know Him. That spark is His priceless gift to us. From there, it becomes our sacred responsibility to nurture and unfold this desire into the full bloom of Bhakti Tattva.
Baba outlines three simple but profound steps to evolve devotion:
- Śravaṇam – Listening to the glories and Kīrtan of Param Puruṣa.
- Mananam – Constant contemplation on Param Puruṣa in the mind.
- Nididhyāsanam – Deep meditation and ideation on the Supreme.
When we sincerely follow these steps, the proximity of Param Puruṣa becomes real in our lives, and this nearness only increases over time. And when we begin to feel His presence by His grace, a new desire arises—the desire to serve Him. And how do we serve Him? By serving all beings, with the ideation that each is a manifestation of Param Puruṣa. This service becomes the fertile ground where Bhakti Tattva blossoms in its fullness.
So let us immerse ourselves in:
- More and more Katha and Kīrtan (Śravaṇam),
- More and more Sādhanā (Mananam and Nididhyāsanam),
- And dedicate ourselves to loving service of humanity in the name of Param Puruṣa.
Our most beloved BABA is ever-ready to lift us into His divine lap.
Emergency Period
Emergency period in India was from 25th June 1975 to 21st March 1977. All the institutions of Anandmarg were closed and workers as well active Anandmargis were arrested during that period. I had infected chest during emergency periods India and developed chronic asthma and still today I am living with oxygen bottles round the clock. Thanks to BABA ’s blessings I am alive today. In emergency period I was forced to remain underground and needed medical attention to treat chronic asthma. So I finally decided to return during emergency period. Since then I am serving BABA ’s mission as simple Anandmargi. Interestingly when I met Baba in jail as Chief Secretary of SDM that time also BABA told me " …you have Tivra Sanskara and you have to go back. " . I was surprised and asked BABA " I am cut off from my normal life how I will maintain myself ?” BABA looked at me told " …to maintain your life is my responsibility you will not have to worry for it. “. Till today I am completely cared for all my requirements. I spent 12 years as active whole timer (WT) and now as active Anandmargi I am member of Bhukti Committee Ahmedabad India. Any more information if needed, I will explain accordingly.
BRAHMA SADHANA
While walking with BABA in Ranchi BABA explained why BRAHMA SADHANA is the only way to attain total salvation. BABA said, “Look, human life has very limited time on earth. In that short span of life, you must not waste a single moment in useless activities. Spend your maximum time doing Sadhana and try to reach perfection as early as possible.”
Then BABA continued, “There are thousands of varieties of Sadhana. Learning all those types would take thousands of human births. So don’t run after different varieties of Sadhana. Learn one Sadhana, do it with full energy, and master it.” BABA further explained, “There are several expressions of Brahma that control various faculties of the universe — these are called Devtas. Each Devta has a specific acoustic sound called a Bij Mantra. For example:
- Saraswati is the Devta of knowledge — her Bij Mantra is ‘Saa’ (Sa Sarasvati)
- Durga’s Bij Mantra is ‘Dng’(दं) (दं Durga) And so on for each Devta.”
BABA continued: “When you perform Sadhana for each Devta individually, you are only doing Sadhana of a part of Brahma — not the whole. But when you perform Brahma Sadhana using your Istha Mantra, all Devtas are automatically satisfied. There is no need to worship them individually, because Brahma Sadhana is the Sadhana of the Totality — of Brahma itself.
This is the only way to reach perfection in human life.”
From that moment onward, I left behind the craze of learning various forms of Sadhana. Now I realize: BABA NAM KEVALAM (Kirtan Mantra), Istha Mantra, Guru Dhyan, and Service to suffering humanity — together with Service to suffering Humanity — are fully sufficient to help you reach BRAHMAHOOD, the ultimate goal of human life.
BABA: The Witnessing Presence Within
Baba is not separate from us. He is an inseparable part of our very existence—silently witnessing all our thoughts, words, and actions. Here, I wish to share a deeply personal experience that revealed to me the all-pervading presence of Baba in our inner being.
It was the day when Baba, for the very first time, introduced the method of Pitri Yajña in Ananda Marga, using the Snán Mantra (bath mantra). By His divine grace, I happened to be present that day at the Patna Office. Baba arrived at the office in the morning and asked all the workers to assemble. He briefly explained the profound philosophy behind Pitri Yajña—that all our comforts, happiness, and progress are possible only because of the contributions of our ancestors and the great scientists of the past. It is our foremost duty, He said, to remember them and pay respectful homage to their legacy every day after taking a bath. Baba then instructed Ramanand Dada to demonstrate Pitri Yajña along with the śloka (chant). After the demonstration, Baba gave a clear order to all the workers: everyone must memorize the ślokas of Pitri Yajña by heart before evening that same day.
Later that morning, during General Darshan at Patliputra Colony around 11:30 AM, Baba once again spoke about the significance of Pitri Yajña. I was sitting just in front of Him. While listening, I was also mentally repeating the śloka in an effort to memorize it. Suddenly, Baba looked directly at me—and then, to my astonishment, He began speaking the exact same śloka aloud. What amazed me most was that Baba’s external voice and my internal mental chanting were perfectly synchronized—as if it was not me, but Baba speaking within me. His physical voice and my mental voice had become one and the same. This divine communion continued till the end of the śloka. That moment felt like a blissful merging of two streams into one sacred flow. I experienced an indescribable oneness with Baba—so intimate, so reassuring. At the end of the śloka, Baba turned toward me and smiled—so sweetly, so knowingly. It was a smile that reached the very depths of my soul.
That small event, though brief, unveiled a vast truth: Baba is within us, always. He is the silent witness of all our thoughts, words, and actions. He is not apart from us—He is us, in our purest, most conscious form protecting us from all upcoming dangers and problems and enlightening us with deep spiritual experiences.
Don’t Hate Anything in the Universe — Be One Inside and Outside
During a General Darshan at the AMPS School in Delhi, Baba lovingly explained the root cause of failure in human life. With a gentle yet penetrating voice, He said: “The mind is always responsible for either human liberation or downfall. You must keep your mind sharp and integrated. A pure mind reaches its targets effortlessly.” Then, Baba paused. His eyes sparkled with compassion, and a sweet smile danced on His lips. The hall fell silent. Everyone waited with bated breath as Baba continued: “But how to keep the mind pure?” Again, He stopped — looking into each heart as if He were asking each of us personally. Then, in a voice full of insight and softness, He said: “Look… hatred — Ghrina — is the root cause of all impurities of the mind.” He explained that when we hate someone, our mind unconsciously begins to ideate on that person. We dwell on their actions, their qualities — and in doing so, our mind absorbs their negative traits. This is what Baba called “negative ideation.” “Your mind gets polluted by the very qualities you despise in others.” Then suddenly, His voice changed — now infused with divine sternness. He declared: “No… no… no! You have no right to hate anyone — not even a single particle of this universe!” The room vibrated with intensity. Baba continued: “This universe has been created by Parama Purusha — with love, with His own hands, by His own will. How can you dare to hate His creation? You may find something bad, or ugly, or unpleasant… but He loves all of His creations — without any distinction.” There was deep silence. Every heart was still. Baba went on, speaking now with concern: “Most people don’t like someone, but still — on the outside — they show love and affection. This kind of behavior is very, very dangerous for the human mind. Why? Because it splits your mind into two parts — inner and outer.”
“Inside, the mind hates. Outside, the face pretends love. They are opposite to each other. This is what creates a split personality.” He explained that such people lose the moral strength to stand by truth. They begin to compromise — constantly — with situations, with values, even with themselves. They lose the willpower to do anything great, especially when facing challenges. Then, in a gentle voice again, Baba said: “Always be one — inside and outside. No duality. This is called Saralata — straightforwardness.” “When you perform Saśt́aunga Prańám, it means you are expressing this unity — that there is no curvature, no deception, no inner contradiction. Just oneness.” Baba then revealed something deeply beautiful: “Saralata — this simplicity and innocence of heart — is an essential quality for every Sadhaka (spiritual aspirant). Such a mind never gets polluted — not by thought, not by word, not by action. They remain pure and innocent, like a child.” With loving radiance, He added: “And Saralata, when combined with Sadhuta and Tejasvita, will help you reach your goal of Brahmahood — with great speed.” He then explained each quality:
- Saralata — The innocence and unity of being; no inner-outer contradiction; pure simplicity.
- Sadhuta — A loving and bleeding heart that feels the pain of others as one’s own.
- Tejasvita — A brilliant, sharp mindset that immediately adopts any good quality it comes across, without hesitation and without wasting time.
Baba concluded with profound encouragement: “These three — Saralata, Sadhuta, and Tejasvita — are the natural, inherent qualities of a true Sadhaka.” Let us strive to cultivate:
- Saralata — The childlike purity that aligns our heart, mind, and actions.
- Sadhuta — A tender heart that embraces the suffering of humanity.
- Tejasvita — The spiritual brilliance that instantly absorbs all goodness. These qualities are most essential requirement in spiritual path.
Overcoming Ashta Pashas and Shad Ripu
In beginning years of Anandmarg in General Darshan we used sing devotional songs written by various Saints like Meera,Ravi Das, Sur Das, Kabir etc. Once in General Darshan someone sang devotional song of Sur Das. In song “Sur Das” himself is narrated as servant of Lord Krishna. After listening song BABA got annoyed and immediately ordered to stop further singing of song. BABA said “…. you all are beloved sons and daughters of PARAM PURUSH not servants…. " BABA further instructed”….take my permission of all songs for General Darshan. Only for any devotional song of Saint Kabir no permission is required. Saint Kabir’s poetry is totaly based upon pure Tantra philosophy. " BABA always liked the poetry of Saint Kabir.
The great spiritual mystic, Saint Kabir, once sang “Māyā tuze mahā ṭhagīnī mai jānu…” “I have come to know, O Maya, that you are the greatest deceiver.” This single line reveals a deep spiritual truth. Maya, the creative force of the universe, is indeed a masterful manipulator. She doesn’t use external chains to bind us—but instead, she uses the very propensities of our own minds to trap us. Her tools are the three binding forces or gunas: Sattva guna – the sentient force Rajo guna – the mutative force Tamo guna – the static force
In the case of human beings, Maya cunningly uses the Vrittis (mental tendencies) to create bondage. And her most effective instruments are the Shad Ripu (Six Enemies) and the Ashta Pasha (Eight Nooses). The Six Enemies (Shad Ripu): Kāma (Lust), Krodha (Anger),Lobha (Greed), Moha (Attachment),Māda (Pride),Mātsarya (Jealousy). The Eight Nooses (Ashta Pasha): Lajjā (Shame), Bhaya( Fear), Ghrṇā (Hatred), Shaṅkā (Doubt), Kula (Attachment to lineage or social status), Śīla (Rigid notions of moral conduct), Māna (Vanity or Ego),Jugupsā (Disgust)
A Baba’s Discourse in Delhi : During a General Darshan in Delhi, Baba posed a question to us “. …Which is more dangerous – the Ashta Pasha or the Shad Ripu?” Everyone remained silent. Then Baba gently explained: “….The Ashta Pasha are more dangerous. Why? Because they bind you so tightly that you are rendered helpless.Imagine a mighty wrestler tied up with ropes. Even a small child could strike his face, and he would be unable to defend himself. That’s exactly how the mind becomes under the influence of the Ashta Pasha—paralyzed and unable to resist the attacks of the Shad Ripu.”Among all the nooses, Baba emphasized one in particular:Fear (Bhaya). He said: “…Fear is deeply rooted in the human subconscious. Why? Because the impressions of death from past lives are stored within. This is why fear—especially the fear of death—is universal. So many great missions and dreams are abandoned because of fear. Even heroic people give up when this bondage grips them.” So How to Conquer Fear? Baba gave a divine key:”…The enemy of your enemy is your friend. Fear itself is afraid of the Supreme Entity—Parama Puruṣa. So, make Parama Puruṣa your closest friend, and all your fears will vanish.”
The Practical Path: Kirtan Before Sádhaná Baba then explained how to defeating both the Ashta Pasha and Shad Ripu: “Always begin with Kirtan. When you sing ‘Baba Nam Kevalam,’ the nooses of the Ashta Pasha start to loosen. The mind becomes lighter, subtler, and rises above crude physicality. Then, when you sit for Sádhaná (meditation), you are free and empowered to fight off the Shad Ripu.Your Iishṭa Mantra is a powerful weapon—it will protect you and guide you to victory.” Thus, Baba lovingly guided us: Start with Prabhat Samgiita (inspiring spiritual songs)Followed by Kirtan (chanting “Baba Nam Kevalam”).Then practice all lessons of Sádhaná in proper sequence, as taught by Ācārya (spiritual teacher).
The Highest Goal – Brahmahood After thousands of years of spiritual search, for the first time in human history, such a detailed, universal, and complete spiritual process has been given—by the Sadguru, Shri Shri Anandamurti ji. The goal of Brahmahood – To realize our own Self “Param Purush " and to be one with the Infinite.
BABA’s Watchful Eyes – The Story of Shri Peshavarilal
This is a deeply inspiring story about Shri Peshavarilal, a devoted follower of BABA, which beautifully illustrates how BABA’s unseen hand guides and protects His children in moments of need. Shri Peshavarilal was traveling from Calcutta to Delhi by train, seated in a first-class compartment. He had purchased valuable jewelry in Calcutta for his daughter’s upcoming wedding and was eager to reach Delhi safely. Naturally, his heart was full—with excitement for the joyous occasion, and a bit of worry about safeguarding such precious belongings. As the train began its journey, a well-dressed gentleman entered the compartment and took the seat opposite Peshavarilal. The man had a pleasant smile and spoke sweetly. Over time, the two struck up a friendly conversation. Peshavarilal felt relieved, thinking he now had good company for the journey.
The train stopped at Allahabad station. Peshavarilal felt a strong desire to have a cup of tea. Trusting the gentleman, he asked him to keep an eye on his luggage while he stepped out for a quick break. But as he walked toward the tea stall, something extraordinary happened. Suddenly, he felt a sharp blow on his back—as if someone had smacked him—and at the same instant, he heard a loud, commanding voice that shook his soul: “LOOK… LOOK! YOUR LUGGAGE IS GOING OUT!” Peshavarilal froze. The voice was unmistakably BABA’s. He spun around—and to his horror—he saw a porter (kuli) walking away with his bags, including the one carrying all the jewelry. The gentleman who had befriended him was walking ahead, signaling the porter to follow. Peshavarilal ran like lightning, heart pounding, and caught hold of the porter’s shirt. He shouted: “Stop! That’s my luggage! Who told you to take it?” The porter was startled and immediately halted. Trembling, he pointed to the “gentleman,” who by then had already started running away into the crowd. Realizing the near catastrophe that had just been averted, Peshavarilal asked the porter to return everything to his compartment. He sat back down, shaken but safe—and slowly, tears welled up in his eyes. He folded his hands and bowed his head with deep emotion, whispering: “BABA… You saved me. You saved my daughter’s happiness. You saved our honor.” His heart overflowed with gratitude. In that moment, he knew—BABA is truly always with us. Watching. Guiding. Protecting. BABA often says: “I am not a God sitting in heaven. I live with you. I am among you. I closely watch all my children and protect them from every upcoming danger.” Let this story be a reminder to all of us: BABA never leaves His devotees alone—not even for a second. His grace appears at the precise moment when we need Him most. For the record, Shri Peshavarilal and R. Prasad, a senior devotee and former Collector of Customs and Central Excise in Delhi, are co-parents-in-law. This story was lovingly shared by R. Prasad himself to me personally.
The Protective Power of Baba in the Spiritual Realm
This is a story from the spiritual realm, where every sadhaka is protected by the divine energies of Param Purush BABA.
At one time, I was posted as the Finance Secretary of PFI (Proutist Forum of India), at the Delhi office. My work involved traveling across India to collect funds. During one of these tours, I visited Ahmedabad and stayed at the Ananda Marga School, which was managed by Ac’arya Viresvarananda Avadhuta.
During my stay, Ac’arya Viresvaranandaji shared a miraculous personal experience that showed how Baba protects His sadhakas—especially during intense spiritual practices like Kapalik Sadhana.
He said: “A sadhaka had once gifted me a gold watch, and I used to wear it all the time, unaware that a group of mischievous young men in the area had noticed it. They closely observed my daily routine, waiting for an opportunity to snatch it away. Eventually, they learned that I performed Tantra Sadhana in the cremation ground (smasan) each month. One night, they decided to follow me from a distance as I went for my sadhana.”
“That night, I reached the smasan and began my usual Tantra Sadhana. After completing my practice, I entered deep Guru Dhyan (meditation on the Guru). Meanwhile, the group of four young men, armed with sticks and knives, began to approach me. But before they could get close, a large sphere of fire suddenly rose from the ground and began rolling with deep humming sound toward them! Frightened, they froze and then fled in panic. I was astonished, watching this mysterious, dancing sphere of fire. The moment the hooligans disappeared, the sphere of fire also vanished.”
“Later, when I reported to BABA and described the entire incident, I asked Him, ‘BABA, what was that sphere of fire?’ BABA smiled sweetly and explained: ‘It was a spiritual energy called Kauvery. Lord Shiva created Kauvery to protect all Tantra Sadhakas during their spiritual practices.’”
Ac’arya Viresvaranandaji ended his story with a blissful smile, saying: “BABA protects His sadhakas everywhere, at all times.” So we all Sadhakas of Anandmarg are well protected by BABA ’s divine energies at all the places and all the time against all upcoming dangers and problems. Be carefree and do maximum Kirtan " BABA NAM KEVALAM “, Sadhana and Service to suffering Humanity.
Baba on Pandavas at General Darshan at Ranchi Jagriti
In the General Darshan at Ranchi Jagriti, all Anandamargis—including me—were eagerly waiting for BABA’s arrival. Soon, BABA appeared on the stage and took His seat on the dais. He looked from left to right at all the Anandamargis with His blissful, divine smile. Then BABA began speaking about the war of Mahabharat and its importance for all of human civilization, along with its deeper spiritual explanations.
At the beginning, BABA said, “In the time of Mahabharat, Arjuna and Sudama were two well-known, important characters. Both were very good Bhaktas (devotees) of Lord Krishna.” Suddenly, BABA paused and asked, “Now, who wants to be a Bhakta like Sudama? Raise your hands.” We were all stunned by BABA’s sudden questioning. There was complete silence. Then BABA asked again with a mysterious smile, “Now tell me—who wants to be a Bhakta like Arjuna?” This time, the audience responded actively, and almost all Margis raised their hands, wishing to be like Arjuna. BABA spontaneously said, “No… no… neither Sudama nor Arjuna. You all have to be Krishna!”
BABA continued, “Look… every character in the Mahabharat carries a special message for the entire humanity to follow.” He said, “Sudama was the greatest Bhakta among all characters of Mahabharat, because he knew that Krishna Himself is God—the controller of the Universe—yet he never demanded anything from Him. His love for Parama Purusha was selfless and pure.” “Arjuna, on the other hand, was a very ordinary human character, but he had one important quality: he used to ask for permission from Krishna for each and every action in his life. Because of the guidance Krishna gave, Arjuna became the most successful and glorious hero of the Mahabharat.” Then BABA spoke about Bhima: “Bhima was a very strong character in the Mahabharat, but he couldn’t become as popular as Arjuna. Why? Because Bhima had a great weakness—food, or eating. His hunger was so uncontrolled that he would forget even important tasks because of it.” About Yudhishthira, BABA said: “He was a great moralist of his time, but still, he suffered the most insults in his life. Why? Because Yudhishthira was not a practical moralist—he was just a simple one. One must consider all the positive and negative aspects for oneself and for others before doing anything. Yudhishthira put his entire family in trouble due to his decision to gamble.”
On Nakul, the fourth Pandava, BABA said: “‘Nakul’ means one who has no boundaries. Nakul was very self-conscious about his appearance. He used to spend his energy on looking gracious and smart. That’s why he could not play a major role in history.” And finally, about Sahadeva: “Sahadeva never used his knowledge to its full extent. He was also proud of his knowledge. Every so-called intelligent person who carries ego or a superiority complex becomes unfriendly and distant from others.” After the General Darshan, I joined BABA as He walked from Jagriti to the Ranchi office. After walking a short while, BABA suddenly stopped, looked at me, and said: “Do you know, before coming to earth, Parama Purusha plans all events and characters in advance. And after coming, He simply witnesses everything as it happens. Parama Prakriti manages everything according to His plan.” Then BABA continued with a divine story: “After the war of Mahabharat, all the Kauravas—Gandhari’s hundred sons—had died. Lord Krishna, along with the Pandavas, visited the battlefield as soon as the war ended. Gandhari also reached there.” “Gandhari was a great spiritual lady. She knew Krishna Himself was God, the Supreme Being of the Universe. She approached Krishna and asked, ‘I know for certain that You are God. So why did You let all my sons die? You could have easily changed their minds and made them noble persons. Why did You destine them to die?’” “Krishna kept quiet before Gandhari, because He was the greatest humanist. He did not want to hurt the heart of a grieving mother by saying, ‘Yes, it was My decision to make the Mahabharat war happen. Your sons were destined to die.’”
BABA paused, then said with feeling: “Since Krishna remained silent, Gandhari gave Him a curse—that His entire Yadav clan would also be destroyed. And Lord Krishna accepted her curse—without saying a single word. " Finally, BABA looked at me with a smile, and said: “You are able to understand Lord Krishna because I have explained Him to you today. But this ‘Anandmurti ji’—he will only be understood when another Anandmurti ji comes to earth in the future and explains.” This moment was one of the most blessed experiences of my life. BABA did not just speak about ancient history—He opened the door to cosmic understanding, spiritual psychology, and the deep compassion of the Divine. In that Darshan, BABA revealed that we are not just to admire divine characters—we are to become them. Not merely Arjuna or Sudama, but Krishna—the Supreme Consciousness, Param Purush Himself.
The Human Body – A Divine Gift: Teachings of Lord Shri Shri Anandamurti ji
The advent of Lord Shri Shri Anandamurti ji brought multidimensional transformation to the lives of individuals and the collective consciousness of humanity—on the physical, psychic, and spiritual levels. Today, let us reflect on His divine guidance for individual human life. His boundless love, compassion, and wisdom inspire us endlessly. To all of us, He is BABA, the most Beloved Being in the Universe. The Precious Human Life Again and again, BABA reminded us of the sacred value of human life. He would say: “You have come to this Earth for a limited time. Use every moment of your life to attain the Divine Goal of Brahmahood. Your body is not meant for the animal way of living — it is designed to taste divinity through the spiritual practice of Sadhana.” BABA would emphasize that human life is always dynamic — always moving — and there are only two directions:
- Toward Divinity
- Toward downfall — to the level of animals or even further to crude matter.
He would say: “No one who has evolved through millions of years from crude matter to human being would ever wish to fall back to the level of an animal.” Thus, BABA urged: “Fix the Goal of Brahmahood before your eyes, and direct all your thoughts, words, and actions toward that Goal.” He advised us: “Do not look back at your past — whether good or bad. Keep your gaze fixed on the Goal, and act wisely and firmly in the present.” Root Cause of Human Struggles
BABA revealed: “Do you know why you struggle on the spiritual path? You carry deep impressions — ‘samskaras’ — from countless animal lives during your evolutionary journey. These old instincts pull you back from the hard path of spiritual unification with the Supreme Consciousness.”
A Profound Mystery. During one General Darshan in Delhi, BABA shared one of His greatest mysteries: “Today you understand who is Lord Shiva and who is Lord Krishna because I have explained. But this ‘Anandamurti ji’ will only be understood when another Anandamurti ji will come in the future to reveal this truth. The philosophy I give today is for future, developed generations who will understand it fully.”
Understanding Human Existence BABA explained that human existence has three dimensions:
- Physical. 2. Psychic. 3. Spiritual Of these, the psychic and spiritual are of permanent nature, while the physical body is temporary. The human body serves the human mind for a limited time and then perishes. The mind must then wait for a new body to exhaust its latent samskaras. BABA declared: “The human body is a beautiful, self-contained biological machine, a Divine gift from Param Purush, designed to help you reach the Goal of Brahmahood.” Why the Human Body is Special Only the human body is capable of performing Sadhana — the spiritual practice necessary for self-realization. This is because only humans have:
- A straight spine
- Fully developed chakras along the spinal column
BABA warned: “Never curve your spine during Sadhana. If you are sick or aged, practice in a straight, lying posture.”
The Living Machine BABA explained the biology of the body: 1.The body is made of living protozoic cells in the blood and metazoic structures (heart, liver, kidneys, lungs, glands, brain, etc.). All are interconnected by the nervous system. 2.The human mind controls these body systems through the network of nerves. However, BABA also cautioned: “If the collective psychic force of the body (the animal instincts of the organs and cells) becomes stronger than the human mind, the mind will act in an animalistic way.”
He illustrated this with an example: “Suppose you are rushing to catch a train, but your body smells tea and craves it. If your mind is weak, you will stop for tea and miss the train.”
Therefore: “You must control all the instincts of the body.” The Role of Sadhana and Lifestyle BABA taught that Ashtanga Yoga with strict adherence to the 16 Points of conduct keeps both body and mind in proper balance and enables deep spiritual practice. Food and the Nature of the Body BABA explained that: Food changes the very nature of the body. Tamasic food (impure, dulling) leads to tamasic tendencies; Rajasic food (stimulating) brings rajasic tendencies; Sattvic food (pure) enhances sattvic qualities necessary for spiritual growth. He said: “Avoid Tamasic food completely — it invites low, animalistic vibrations into your body.” He demonstrated this by saying: “I see the mind of a crow has just taken birth in the cell of this boy’s face — because he consumed Tamasic food.” Furthermore: Each cell is replaced every 30 to 40 days. Each cell attracts a new unit mind from the surrounding atmosphere. Tamasic cells attract low, animal minds. Over time, this pulls the human mind toward lower tendencies. Thus, BABA advised: “Be very careful of your food habits. Eat quality food, not quantity. ‘Eat less to eat more’ — meaning, what you eat should be well digested.” The Five Doctors BABA explained the five true healers of the body:
- Pure Air
- Pure Water
- Pure Food
- Pure Light
- Proper Exercise (Yoga Asana)
Purpose of the Human Body BABA reminded us: “The human body is a Divine gift — its very purpose is to attain Brahmahood.” He added: “The body is for Yoga (Sadhana), not for Bhoga (physical enjoyment). Use your body like a tractor — work it in all conditions until you reach your Goal.” In modern times, BABA cautioned: “Do not waste time building muscle for physical strength — today machines can do any rough labor. Instead, develop your psychic power and spiritual enlightenment.” Warnings Against Materialism BABA warned: “If one indulges in animalistic living or mad pursuit of material pleasure, eventually the body rejects the mind — leading to painful death and degeneration of the mind into animal or even plant life.” Thus, BABA advised: “Keep your body engaged in good actions — Kirtan, Sadhana and service to humanity.” He urged: “While doing Sadhana, visualize that Yama, the God of Death, has seized you by the hair — no time is left. Practice with the awareness of life’s impermanence.” The Role of Yoga Asanas in Mental Health Many times, BABA explained how physical imbalances affect the mind: For example: For fear complex — practice Mayurasana, For concentration — practice Baddha Padmasana He stressed: “Yoga Asana should be part of your daily life — for both physical health and mental evolution.”
BABA Demonstrated the Power of Kirtan…. Divine Experience in Patna
This divine incident occurred in Patna, in my very presence. It was just a few months after BABA had declared “BABA Nam Kevalam” as the Kirtan Maha Mantra during General Darshan. On that sacred day, BABA explained with immense love and clarity: “Wherever and whenever Kirtan is performed with devotion, Param Purush immediately reaches that place — spontaneously, effortlessly, and with full presence.” To practically demonstrate this profound truth, BABA called a Margi brother named Ravindra and lovingly asked him to perform Kirtan in Lalit Mudra. Ravindra started with sincerity, but BABA gently corrected his posture and mudra, helping him align more deeply with the flow of Kirtan. As Ravindra resumed, gradually he became absorbed in the rhythm and ideation of the mantra:“BABA Nam Kevalam” — “ Only The Name of the most Beloved (BABA) is Real.” His body swayed in harmony with divine rhythm, and his face radiated bliss.
BABA continued His spiritual discourse and revealed: “… There are two types of Tirtha. One is Bhávana Tírtha and second is Bhumi Tirtha. “Wherever Kirtan is performed sincerely, that place becomes a Bhávana Tírtha it is like Kamdhenu — a holy site charged with divine ideation and sacred vibration.” He further explained: “Bhávana Tírtha is like Kamadhenu, the mythical wish-fulfilling cow. It grants all noble desires that are beneficial to both the individual and society. However, it never fulfills any selfish or harmful desires that degrade the self or others.” BABA again explained “… Bhumi Tirthas are like Kalp Vrikhsa full filling one and all desires of mind. The places where Tarak Brahma Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna spent their lifetime and also where Sadhakas attained Moksha ( liberation) through spiritual practices became Bhumi Tirtha. At Bhumi Tirtha one gets great help in Sadhana due to existing spiritual vibrations of the place. But wrong thanking and actions cause intense downfall at Bhumi Tirtha.
With great compassion, BABA then warned: “When you do Kirtan, your mind rises to subtler levels of consciousness. After that, if you immediately indulge in worldly activities, it results in a ‘crash landing’ — a sharp fall of the mind from a higher spiritual plane back into the crude material world. Such a fall makes the mind even more restless and crude than it was before.“Therefore,” He emphasized,“Always perform Sadhana immediately after Kirtan. That is the proper sequence for spiritual elevation.” All the while, Ravindra continued his Kirtan, eyes closed, totally lost in bliss. A soft, radiant smile played on his lips as he became unaware of his surroundings — immersed in the flow of the Cosmic Conciousness. BABA pointed toward him and said with divine pride: “Look at this boy… he is now completely attuned to the Kirtan Mantra. His mind is one with the Cosmic Flow, and his body is resonating with the Cosmic Momentum. He can continue like this for many hours without feeling tired, because his body is no longer drawing energy from the physical body and world — it is now being sustained directly by Cosmic Momentum.”
After the General Darshan ended, BABA instructed a few Margis to stay back in the hall to look after Ravindra. Ravindra continued to do Kirtan — blissfully, effortlessly — for a long time. Eventually, someone gently touched him. Ravindra slowly opened his eyes, and with tears in his eyes and deep yearning in his voice, cried out: “BABA… BABA…” He began looking around desperately, searching for His Divine Presence. Such was the depth of his divine absorption. BABA had revealed the profound truth — that through Kirtan, not just the mind, but the entire being — mind and body — becomes one with the Divine Flow. That is why, even after hours of singing “BABA Nam Kevalam”, devotees never feel exhausted. On the contrary, they feel energized and elevated. BABA concluded: “When you do Sadhana, you try to reach Param Purush. But when you do Kirtan — ‘BABA Nam Kevalam’ — then Param Purush Himself comes to you.” Always do Kirtan first and then perform Spiritual Practice (Sadhana). That is the sacred path to blissful union with the Supreme Consciousness Param Purush BABA.
BABA’s Divine Monitoring – A Sacred Revelation in Patna (1968)
For monthly reporting of my work, I had reached the Anandmarg Head Office in Patna. That day, I arrived early in the morning, full of anticipation and devotion, waiting for BABA’s arrival. Soon, BABA entered the office. I immediately performed Sastang Pranam and humbly stood to the side. BABA looked at me with His divine, radiant smile and blessed me. By divine grace, I was the only person present at that time. BABA sat on a chair and took out a small black diary—so tiny it fit entirely in His palm. I observed in awe as He began writing something in it. It appeared that He was drawing some special symbols—delicate, cryptic signs that seemed deeply mystical. After finishing His writing, BABA looked at me and said with divine authority and affection: “Do you know? I keep accounts of every one of you in this very diary. No one is left out.” He then opened a page of the diary and allowed me to look. I was astonished. The entire page—so small—was filled with extremely fine, characteristic writing. My mind was overwhelmed with the thought: How does BABA physically keep an account of every being’s actions in such a diary? It was 1968. Computers had not yet entered the mainstream of human life. And yet, here was BABA—cosmic, omniscient—doing something beyond our imagination.
BABA continued: “I watch each one of you. What you are doing—where even the rays of the sun cannot reach, I am there. Nothing is hidden from me. I see every single action of yours, and I hear even the subtlest voice of your mind.” His divine face was glowing with spiritual radiance. I was deeply absorbed in His words. Suddenly, His tone shifted. The gentle softness turned to thunderous firmness: “…And you think BABA is not watching you? How dare you think such wrong things in your mind!” I was shocked. My body trembled. I was completely stunned by the sudden transformation in His voice and mood.
Then, BABA began to recount, one by one, the negative thoughts I had harbored—mentioning the exact dates and places. My legs gave in. I fell at His divine feet, holding them tightly, weeping like a child. BABA paused and spoke with deep seriousness: “If one continues to commit sins mentally, again and again, eventually those thoughts manifest into sinful actions. And sinful actions are punishable. So always avoid wrong thinking.” Only then did I understand—from the very beginning, BABA had been targeting the negative patterns in my mind. Yes—it was true. I had harbored wrong thoughts. From that day onward, I made a solemn vow never to allow my mind to drift into negativity—neither towards myself nor towards society. Even now, many years later, I feel immense joy and reassurance in knowing that BABA watches me inside and out—constantly, lovingly, and intensely. Under His divine gaze, I feel completely safe, sound, and protected. His presence is the eternal shelter of my soul.
Strengthen Your FAITH…
Faith is the key to success in all walks of life — physical, psychic, or spiritual. Especially in the spiritual realm, it is an ever-open, royal highway to divine realization. In one of His discourses, BABA said: “…Faith is the most important and primary requirement in all the events of successful human life…” Yes — you cannot do anything, not even walk on an open road, without the support of faith in your mind. Faith evolves naturally through life’s experiences. But faith in God or Param Purush (BABA) arises not from logic or worldly experience — it is born from His divine blessings alone. When the human mind receives unexpected help during life’s most troubling moments, the seeds of faith begin to sprout. Slowly, steadily, the mind develops undaunted trust in the Supreme, in Param Purush BABA.
Always remember:The grace of Param Purush is available at all times, in all places, to all beings. But it is subtle, and not easily perceived — only a few blessed souls, the true devotees (Bhaktas), can recognize and experience this grace. A Bhakta is one who has awakened the super-sense, the spiritual intuition that can perceive the living presence of the Divine. Faith in God, in Param Purush, is what we call Devotion — “Bhakti.”
BABA once lovingly said in a discourse: “If you want to learn the secrets of devotion, you must remain in the company of devotees. Just like if you want to learn cooking, you must become the assistant of an expert cook.” He further added: “You have to be like a very, very stubborn child — a child who demands only the company of his mother and nothing else — and who keeps on crying until the mother surrenders and takes him into her lap.” That is the kind of determined, innocent, loving longing that gives birth to unshakable devotion. To strengthen your faith, do intensive Sadhana (spiritual practice). This will awaken the intuition to recognize the subtle flow of divine grace — the loving touch of Param Purush BABA in every moment of life. BABA beautifully said: “All living beings are sons and daughters of Param Purush. When you serve them with love, He becomes happy.” So immerse yourself in: 1.Kirtan — “BABA NAM KEVALAM” 2.Sadhana — Deep spiritual meditation 3.Service — To suffering humanity
And gradually, you will be gifted with Bhakti — devotion — and undaunted, eternal faith in the Supreme Beloved — Param Purush BABA.
BABA’s Personal Advice to Me – A Sacred Evening in Ranchi
During an evening walk with BABA in Ranchi, I was blessed with a deeply personal piece of advice that left a permanent impression on my life. BABA said lovingly yet firmly: “Use your motor organs and sensory organs as minimally as possible. Use them only when they are essential for the survival of your existence.” He explained further, “Suppose you can walk easily by seeing up to 10 feet ahead—then don’t look beyond it. Don’t use your ears for useless gossip; instead, listen to Kirtan. If you are alone, sing Kirtan yourself and listen to it in your own voice.”
He continued, “Eat quality food, not quantity food. Eat less—to eat more. A small amount of quality food is easily digested and provides true nourishment.” These instructions were directly addressing my own personal extrovert tendencies, especially my fondness for food and sensory indulgence. This is how BABA would always correct my weaknesses—very personally and lovingly, never in front of others.
BABA’s teachings made it clear that uncontrolled use of the sensory organs—especially the eyes and ears—becomes a major source of mental pollution. In modern times, the evolution of mass media such as radio, television, and cinema has led to a decline in psychological and cultural values. They have shaped habits and lifestyles, and unfortunately, in many cases, increased the rate of crimes. There are countless instances where young criminals confessed to imitating what they saw in movies. In one Prout meeting, BABA clearly said: “Radios and cinemas will work under the education ministry. There will be strict control over the quality of productions and the content of entertainment. Any material that stimulates animal instincts or promotes violence will be strictly banned.”
BABA further emphasized: “Purity of mind is the basic requirement for spiritual evolution. You cannot move even an inch towards the divine if you lose the purity of your mind. On the other hand, a pure mind can perform miraculous achievements on the spiritual path.” To maintain this purity, BABA taught us to:
- Strictly follow Yama and Niyama, the moral codes of conduct
- Do maximum Kirtan: “BABA Nam Kevalam”
- Perform intensive Sádhaná regularly And engage in selfless service to suffering humanity, which helps wash away the ego and impurities of the mind.
By following these divine instructions, one can purify the mind and heart—and ultimately reach the Lotus Feet of PARAM PURUSH BABA.
Grace (Kripá) of Param Puruṣa – A Divine Revelation by our beloved BABA
In a General Darshan, BABA lovingly and powerfully revealed the boundless grace (kripá) of Param Puruṣa. Quoting a profound Sanskrit verse, BABA said: “Mukam karoti vachalam, pangum langhayate girim…” “He makes the dumb speak and the lame leap over mountains.” BABA paused with a gentle smile and added: “Even if someone is crippled, he can jump over the great Himalayas — by the grace of Param Puruṣa. But I say more than that: Even your ability to walk — to take a single step — is possible only due to His grace. All the energy in your body comes from Him. You cannot move even an inch without His blessings. So whenever you do anything, the credit belongs to Him — to Param Puruṣa alone.” Then BABA became serious and said: “The root cause of your suffering and all failures is your ego — the feeling of ‘I am doing’. Suppose someone tries to say ‘Main hoon (I am)’… he won’t even be able to finish the sentence without support from Param Puruṣa. He’ll just say ‘Meh… Meh… Meh…’ like a goat and die out — if Param Puruṣa does not support him.”
BABA continued: “Do you know Arjuna, the great warrior of Mahabharat? He was just an ordinary human, but he became a legendary hero only due to the grace of Lord Krishna. In the same way, by the kripá of Param Puruṣa, you too can move mountains.”
The Secret of Receiving Grace. BABA then unveiled the key to receiving that grace: “Param Puruṣa showers His kripá on all equally — whether rich or poor, educated or uneducated, saint or sinner. His grace is unconditional and non-discriminatory.But there is a problem — And that problem is:.. your ego. Ego is like an umbrella that blocks the rain of grace from reaching you. The moment you drop this ego, you will be drenched in divine bliss — from head to toe.”
A Warning about ‘Goodness’. BABA smile and asked:…“Is it easy to remove ego? The ego of a so-called ‘good’ person is more dangerous than that of a sinner. A sinner may feel guilt and humility, thinking, ‘I am wrong.’ But the one who thinks he is good often believes he is better than others. This is subtle and dangerous ego.”
BABA reminded: “Even your so-called ‘good’ actions are only possible because of the energy, inspiration, and material support provided by Param Puruṣa. No one has the right to claim even an ounce of credit for any good deed in this universe.”
The Final Revelation: How to Attract Kripá. Finally, with immense love, BABA shared the real path: “Param Puruṣa is the Cosmic Father. All living beings are His children. So if you want to make the Cosmic Father happy, then:…Love and serve all His children — without discrimination. Even if a child appears ugly to your eyes, remember — That child is the beloved prince of Param Puruṣa. Love His creation. Serve His people. Then His grace will surely flow into your life. And you will reach the highest goal of human life — the Lotus Feet of Param Puruṣa.”
“BABA’s Help Reaches Everywhere”
A Heart-Touching Personal Experience of Divine Rescue in Police Custody. This is one of the most heart-touching and unforgettable experiences of BABA’s divine grace reaching me in a moment of deep crisis—inside a police custody cell in the middle of the night.
It happened in the year 2002, when I was living in Kankaria, a city area of Ahmedabad, in my newly purchased apartment. However, due to our strong devotion to Anandamarg and regular practice of Kirtan and Sadhana, many neighbors developed a strong dislike for us—especially the sound of our chanting “BABA Nam Kevalam” disturbed them. Every Sunday, Margiis from across Ahmedabad used to gather at our home for Dharma Cakra, and we regularly hosted various spiritual functions of Anandamarg. Our home was also frequently visited by Dadas, Didis, and senior sannyásis, as it was conveniently located near the railway station and interstate bus stand. Unfortunately, all of this led to growing resentment from some of our neighbors—particularly Mr. Deepakbhai Soni, our next-door flat owner, and a Parsi lady living in the adjacent building who was extremely hostile toward Anandamarg.
The Conflict One day, a dispute arose over the sharing of water on the fourth floor where a common supply system existed. A heated argument eventually escalated into a physical altercation, during which Yogesh Kumar, the son of Deepakbhai, physically assaulted me. I was hurt and immediately went to the local police station to file a complaint against them. Later that evening, I visited the police station again to check on the progress of my complaint. But to my utter shock, the officer-in-charge responded with anger and began accusing me instead, saying I was disturbing the peace of the neighborhood. I soon found out that several society members, led by the same Parsi lady, had filed a joint complaint against me, full of false accusations. Without even listening to my side of the story, the police officer forcefully put me into custody. I pleaded with him to at least allow me to call my family or friends, but he flatly refused.
The Ordeal in Custody Inside the crowded police lock-up, I found myself surrounded by criminals. The cell was suffocating and unfit for anyone—let alone someone like me who suffers from asthma. To make matters worse, my family didn’t know where I was, as I had gone to the police station alone. I had no access to help, no contact with my loved ones, and no way to defend myself. Standing at the grill of the cell, trying to catch a breath of fresh air, I closed my eyes and began chanting: “BABA Nam Kevalam… BABA Nam Kevalam…” It was the only thing I could do. From the depths of my heart, I began calling BABA, surrendering everything to His divine will.
The Divine Miracle And then—a miracle happened. Suddenly, I heard a loud voice from outside the cell: “Hey… Ramdas Pandit! What happened? Why are you here?!” I opened my eyes—and to my absolute astonishment, I saw Mr. Ghanshyam, a senior police officer, standing before me. Mr. Ghanshyam had once been my neighbor. We had shared twin flats for over four years and had a deep bond as close friends. I quickly narrated the entire story to him. He listened carefully and said: “Don’t worry… Just wait. I will handle everything.”
A few minutes later, a policeman came to the cell with a bunch of keys. He opened the lock and asked me to come out. I was stunned. I was led to the cabin of the same police inspector who had earlier shouted at me. But now, Mr. Ghanshyam was sitting in the officer’schair, and the former inspector was standing beside him—smiling and chatting as if nothing had happened. Mr. Ghanshyam turned to me and said warmly: “Pandit ji, you are free now. I have paid the required fees for your release. Go home quickly—Didi must be worried. It’s already dinner time!” It all felt like a dream. Just ten minutes ago, I was locked up in a dark, hopeless cell—and now I was walking free.
The Defeat of Injustice I took my bicycle and rushed back home. As I reached the gate of our society, I saw a crowd gathered there—including the Parsi lady, Deepakbhai, and other neighbors—celebrating the news of my arrest. The police officer had informed them earlier about my custody, and they were gloating. But the moment they saw me standing before them—they went silent. Stunned and confused, they could not understand how I was released so soon. They had even paid a bribe to the officer to ensure I stayed locked up. I just smiled silently and walked past them. They had laid a trap. But BABA destroyed it in one stroke.
BABA’s Living Presence Even today, I feel a divine thrill remembering how BABA reached me with lightning speed, rescued me from injustice, and shattered the plans of my enemies. Yes—BABA is not just a concept. He is the Living God. He always says: “I am not the God of heaven… I live with you. I share your sorrows and tears. I reach places where even sunlight cannot enter.” That night, BABA walked into a police station for me.He reached where no one else could. Final Message to All Sádhakas: If you ever feel trapped—physically, socially, legally, or spiritually—don’t panic. Don’t lose faith. Just chant “BABA Nam Kevalam” with your whole heart. His divine grace will come faster than the speed of light, destroy all obstacles, and liberate you in one stroke. “BABA Nam Kevalam” Only the Name of the Beloved is the Truth
BABA’s Loving Watchfulness – A Divine Proof of His Personal Health Care for Every Anandmargi
This is a heart-touching testimony to how BABA personally watches over the well-being and health of His devotees—an unforgettable experience of divine protection. We, the Anandmargis of the Ahmedabad unit, had decided to attend the DMS (Dharma Maha Sammelan) at Jaipur. We had two cars for our journey. My car was driven by Shri Jayanti Bhai, a young and strong devotee of BABA. As I was experiencing a mild asthmatic condition, I decided to carry an oxygen cylinder with me during the travel for any possible emergency.
In the second car, Shri Dwarka Bhai, J.P. Patel, and their family members were traveling. We successfully attended the three-day Jaipur DMS and began our return journey to Ahmedabad. However, on the way back, we were caught in a heavy downpour. Though we eventually reached home safely, the damp atmosphere during the 7–8-hour-long drive made my mild asthma far worse. Sitting for such a long time in that weather caused a serious chest infection—something dangerous for an asthmatic patient like me.
By the time we reached home in the evening, I was feeling unwell. At 8:00 PM, I called our trusted family doctor, Dr. Janak Bhai. Due to heavy traffic, he could only arrive at 9:30 PM. Meanwhile, I began to experience a very strange and frightening sensation of emptiness throughout my body.
The moment Dr. Janak took my wrist to check the pulse, he stood up with a jerk. He immediately called an ambulance and informed Satyam Hospital to prepare for an emergency case—suspecting a heart attack along with asthma complications. Thankfully, Dr. Janak Bhai was a visiting doctor on staff at Satyam Hospital and was well-known to the entire medical team. He instructed them to be ready for combined treatment—for both asthma and a possible heart attack.
The ambulance arrived swiftly, and within 20 minutes I was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. A full team of specialists was already waiting, and my treatment began immediately—right within the golden hour crucial for heart attack patients. Because I had been referred by Dr. Janak as his personal patient, there was no delay for paperwork, preliminary tests, or even advance payments. Everything was handled smoothly and instantly.
By BABA’s divine grace, my treatment began just in time. After three days of care, I was discharged in stable condition. Looking back, I am fully convinced that it was BABA’s loving intervention that arranged every step of the emergency care—timely, precise, and effortless.
This entire incident is a living proof of BABA’s divine assurance and loving care. As He has often said:
“All problems in your life come from Param Puruṣa, and the solutions too come from Him only. From one door He sends the test, and from another He sends the solution. So whenever a problem comes, do not focus on the problem—focus on PARAM PURUṢA.”
We, the Anandmargis, are truly blessed to live under BABA’s divine shelter. Wherever we are in the world, His love and protection surrounds us every moment. There is no need to fear—only remember BABA with full heart and devotion. Let us continue with maximum Kiirtan (BABA Nam Kevalam), maximum Sádhaná, and maximum service to suffering humanity, as much as we can. BABA is always with us—in every breath, every moment, every need.
BABA’s Pointed Instructions Before Taking Any Action in Life
In a General Darshan at Ranchi, our beloved BABA gave very important and timeless instructions regarding how one should choose any course of action in life. BABA lovingly yet powerfully said: “Always take the right decision before choosing any course of action, as it will determine your destiny—whether it leads to success or total failure.”
Then BABA quoted a powerful Sanskrit maxim: “Shubhasya Shighram, Ashubhasya Kalaharanam.” (Do all good actions without delay; delay or avoid all evil actions altogether.)
BABA explained: “Before doing anything, first pause and evaluate—is this action beneficial for your body, your soul, and the society? If yes, then act immediately without wasting even a single moment. If you delay, the momentum of that noble desire will fade, and ultimately, you may forget it entirely. But if a harmful or sinful thought arises—something that is detrimental to you, your soul, or society—postpone it. Delay it again and again, and finally, you will forget it too. Forgetting a good action may not bring immediate harm. But executing an evil action brings definite punishment. Mother Nature (Prakriti) has fixed consequences for every sinful deed, and you will certainly experience the suffering that follows.”
BABA then gave a striking example: “Look at King Ravana. He had two desires. One was noble: to build a staircase from Earth to Heaven so that anyone could travel there as per their wish. But he kept delaying this good action—and eventually forgot it. His second desire was evil: to abduct Sita. He acted on this spontaneously, without a moment’s thought—and as a result, he met total destruction, along with his entire lineage.” After a pause, BABA concluded with great force: “Delaying good actions is called Dīrgha Sūtratā—procrastination. It is the greatest enemy of every human being, and must be eliminated with utmost discipline and firmness.”
Spiritual Guidance for Every Step in Life Human life is full of countless decision points, like a traveller navigating through many complex crossroads of actionpaths. At every step, we must choose our path wisely as per guidelines of PARAM PURUSH BABA . Let us always remember and follow BABA’s divine guidelines—to evaluate our actions based on their impact on self, soul, and society. Let us act promptly on all noble desires, and learn to delay and dissolve all negative impulses. This is the way to make life meaningful, successful, and divinely blessed—so we may ultimately reach the blissful lotus feet of our most beloved BABA.
Who Is Truly Successful?
The one who follows the will of Param Puruṣa—BABA—is always successful and blissful in all walks of life. Once, while coming down to the Ranchi office from Jagriti Hall, I had the divine fortune to walk alongside our beloved BABA. At that time, BABA was delivering profound discourses on the Mahabharata. As we walked together, BABA suddenly paused, looked at me with a blissful smile, and asked: “Do you know why Arjuna was always successful in his life?”
I was taken by surprise—unprepared for such a direct question. Humbly, I replied: “No, BABA.” With great love, BABA explained: “Look, Arjuna was a very ordinary human being. But he had one exceptional quality—before doing anything, he always sought the permission of Lord Krishna and followed His guidance. Since Lord Krishna is the embodiment of Param Puruṣa, Arjuna was essentially aligning himself with the Divine Will. And when someone acts in accordance with the Will of Param Puruṣa, no force in the universe can obstruct their success.”
BABA paused, then looked deeply into my eyes and asked: “Now tell me, how can you know the Will of Param Puruṣa?” Thoughtfully, I responded: “I am a unit mind, and Param Puruṣa is the Cosmic Mind… how can I possibly know His Will?”
BABA smiled sweetly and replied: “Yes… yes… you cannot know all of His Will. But there is one constant and continuous desire that always exists in His mind: He wants to make all His children as great as He is. Param Puruṣa wants His children to be happy, free from all suffering and pain.”
BABA continued: “If anyone helps the suffering children of Param Puruṣa, He becomes satisfied and joyful. Remember, when you serve His children, you are serving Param Puruṣa Himself. Always serve with Nārāyaṇa Bháva—the feeling that you are serving God in every living being.” By then, we had reached BABA’s office in Ranchi. But in that brief walk, BABA had revealed to me one of the greatest secrets of life:
The Great Universal Truths BABA Revealed:
- The universe operates according to the Will of Param Puruṣa.
- True success in life comes only by aligning yourself with that Divine Will. Otherwise, you will face pain, failure, and hopelessness.
- All living beings are children of the same Cosmic Father. We must love and serve each other selflessly, without pride or ego.
- Helping others is the true family spirit of the universe. It pleases Param Puruṣa immensely. In return, He blesses you with Bhakti—the bliss of loving devotion to the Supreme.
BABA’s Supreme Gift to Anandmargis
We Anandamargis are truly blessed, for BABA has shown us a practical and powerful way to seek Divine permission before any action: By applying Brahma Bháva (Cosmic Ideation) with the help of our Guru Mantra (2nd lesson of Ananda Marga Sádhaná). Once you develop the habit of applying Brahma Bháva, you rise above all the binding reactions of your actions—forever.
The Simple Formula for Real Success:
- Do Maximum Kiirtan: BABA Nam Kevalam – Only the Name of the Lord
- Do Maximum Sádhaná: Your link to the Divine
- Do Maximum Service: To suffering humanity, in Nārāyaṇa Bháva
This divine interaction is one of my most cherished memories with BABA. May His Grace guide us all always.
Identify yourself as the son or daughter of PARAM PURUSH BABA and enjoy the divine blessings of PARAM PURUSH BABA.
Several times BABA has declared in a thundering voice: “No power or entity of the Universe can separate Me from My beloved and loving children—whether they love Me or not.” So, why do we feel separation from our beloved BABA?
The answer is the divine game plan of Māyā. There is a constant battle going on between Avidyā Māyā (centrifugal force) and Vidyā Māyā (centripetal force). This battle is happening in every corner of the Universe—in the stars, sun, moon, planets, among all animals, all human civilizations, and even within every individual.
Based on the intensity of Avidyā Māyā and Vidyā Māyā, three main groups of human beings are formed:
- Those who believe in PARAM PURUSH as their beloved Father and always stand behind Him—they are called devotees or bhaktas.
- Those who do not accept PARAM PURUSH as their Father and go against His divine mission of serving suffering children—they are called sinners or pāpīs.
- Those who neither support nor oppose PARAM PURUSH—they are indifferent.
BABA has always declared in anger: “People who neither support nor oppose the fight between moralists and immoralists—their future is dark, and they will become animals or crude matter after death.”
So, beware of the laws of the Cosmic Game Plan of PARAM PURUSH. You must participate in this Cosmic Game Plan—whether you like it or not. There is no way out.
So-called intelligent people who sit on the fence without joining the fight—and want to be on the winning side later—are heading toward the dead end of creation…. becoming animals, stones, soil, or crude matter.
BABA explained why He created this Universe. BABA said: “Before the creation of the Universe, PARAM PURUSH was all alone in infinite emptiness. He had all the power to see, to communicate, to interact—but there was nobody to join Him. He was all alone… what a tragedy! So ultimately, He decided to create the Game Plan of the Universe for His personal joy.”
So, we are all parts of His body only, and He is always with us as our loving Cosmic Father—BABA.
Let us join the Cosmic Game of PARAM PURUSH, hand in hand, in His divine mission of serving the suffering children of the entire humanity all around the world. Let us enjoy the divine blessings and presence of PARAM PURUSH BABA —everywhere, all the time.
The Priceless Value of Param Puruṣa – A Divine Revelation from BABA
In a General Darshan at Ranchi, our beloved BABA lovingly explained a deep truth about human psychology: “Whenever something is acquired easily, it loses its value—even if it is of the highest necessity. On the other hand, that which is difficult to attain is valued greatly, even if it’s not essential.”
BABA elaborated: “Take for example iron—it is abundantly available and extremely useful in daily life, yet it is not considered precious. Gold, however, is less useful in day-to-day life, but because it is rare, it is deemed highly valuable. Similarly, Param Puruṣa is present everywhere—in every particle of creation, in every being, and within you too. But because He is not easily perceived, people fail to realize His worth. To attain Param Puruṣa, you must invest all your energies—of body, mind, and soul. Only after immense striving, struggle, and sincere longing will you be able to realize Him. In the process of Dhyána (deep contemplation), you must keep running toward Param Puruṣa, and He will appear to run away. But don’t stop—keep running. Eventually, your love, dedication, and persistence will compel Him to stop. And then, out of compassion, He will take you into His Divine Lap.”
The Divine Mission of Spreading the Truth
On another occasion, BABA recounted a significant incident: “After the Mahábhárata ended and Lord Krishna left the earth, there arose a fierce conflict between Krishna’s devotees and non-devotees. The non-devotees accused the devotees of being selfish—saying they had kept the truth of Krishna’s divinity hidden from the world. This time,” BABA continued, “you must not repeat that mistake. You must go door to door across the world and declare: ‘Lord Ánandamúrti ji is here on earth!’” Hearing these words, all the Margiis present were overwhelmed. With tears streaming down, they cried out in unison: “BÁBÁ… BÁBÁ… BÁBÁ!”
Yes, we Anandamargis are divinely blessed by His infinite grace. But true realization comes only when we recognize—deep in our hearts and minds—that: “BÁBÁ is the Living God. He is all around us and within us. There is nothing higher than Him. There is nothing more to achieve in life than to merge with our beloved BÁBÁ.” So what should we do?
- Sing BÁBÁ NÁM KEVALAM with utmost devotion.
- Do maximum Sádhaná with full sincerity.
- Render maximum Service to suffering humanity without selfish motive.
- And ultimately, reach the Lotus Feet of Param Puruṣa—BÁBÁ Himself.
Let us never forget the treasure we have been given—and let us prove our gratitude through action, love, and surrender.
BÁBÁ NÁM KEVALAM
A Divine Revelation from BABA – The Whims of Param Puruṣa
In a General Darshan at Ranchi, our beloved BABA, with a strong and thundering voice, declared: “The entire Universe is guided by the whims of PARAM PURUṢA, not by your logic and reasoning.”
This profound truth means that everything—whether within your inner existence or in the external world—is nothing but the manifestation of the will and desire of PARAM PURUṢA. BABA further revealed: “PARAM PURUṢA has only one desire—that every child of His creation must become like Himself, the Supreme PARAM PURUṢA.”
Thus, every pain and every joy in your life is designed only to guide you back towards PARAM PURUṢA.
- When you move towards Him, you are gifted with bliss and joy.
- When you forget Him, you are punished by Prakṛti (Nature) from all directions—physically, psychically, and spiritually.
In that morning General Darshan, BABA explained this truth through the humorous and insightful story of Dr. Ramajony’s treatment of a king. The moral of the story was crystal clear: PARAM PURUṢA creates such intense pressures in your life that, sooner or later, you are compelled to become His good and ideal sons and daughters.
Saint Kabir also sang this eternal truth: “Everyone remembers PARAM PURUṢA when miseries come; But if you remember Him in times of happiness, Then no misery will ever touch your life.”
Finally, BABA gave the supreme guidance on how to deal with life’s challenges: “All the problems in your life come from PARAM PURUṢA, and the solutions too come only from PARAM PURUṢA. So, when problems arise, do not look at the problems—look at PARAM PURUṢA. The solution will surely come from Him.” This is not merely a philosophy—it is my very personal and living experience. In times of difficulty, intensive Sádhaná cures problems from their very roots.
A Divine Encounter Amidst a Storm
It was the second day of the Ananda Marga seminar at Ahmedabad Jagriti, and we had decided to attend. At 9 a.m., we started our journey by car, filled with enthusiasm and devotion.
Midway through, an unexpected challenge arose—the car engine overheated and came to a halt. We waited patiently for it to cool down before resuming, only to face the same issue repeatedly. Despite these hurdles, we pressed on and finally reached Jagriti after three long hours. By then, the sky had opened up, and heavy rain poured down relentlessly.
After spending some time there, the rain intensified, and we decided to return home. The journey back was no less difficult—the car continued to break down every half hour. What should have been a short trip turned into a seven-hour ordeal. We arrived home completely drenched, shivering, and exhausted.
But the real struggle was yet to begin. I suffered a massive asthmatic attack, gasping for air, feeling suffocated. We immediately called our family doctor, Dr. Ajay Shah. Without delay, he advised hospitalization. As I waited, struggling for each breath, an ambulance arrived, equipped with oxygen. The moment I was connected to the oxygen supply, I felt immense relief. And then… something extraordinary happened.
The air around me suddenly filled with the divine fragrance of sandalwood. A bright effulgence illuminated the space, and a sweet, familiar voice whispered into my ears: “Chinta mat karo… mai tumhare sath sath chal raha hun.” (Don’t worry, I am walking with you.)
Yes… yes… it was Him—our beloved BABA—just as I had seen Him in 1968, resplendent in glory, radiating bliss, His face adorned with that divine smile. I longed to rise and look upon Him fully, but I was strapped tightly to the ambulance stretcher. Yet BABA remained there, gazing at me with infinite compassion. Then, to my utter amazement, He began giving instructions to the ambulance staff—not verbally, but through their very consciousness:
“Handle him carefully. Do not let his body experience any jerk.” And just as He commanded, they placed me gently and securely. Meanwhile, my mind drifted away into another realm—beyond the limitations of time, space, and individuality—where BABA appeared ever-youthful, energetic, and blissful. Yes… yes… BABA is always young, untouched by age, unlike the images we see today. He is eternal.
BABA ’s Grace reaches in time every where As I was about to be lifted and adjusted into the ambulance van, a very rare and blissful experience began to unfold around me. I felt as if I was drowning in an ocean of joy and bliss. Everything around me appeared bright, divine, and full of overwhelming happiness. All my pain vanished in an instant. Suddenly, BABA came near me and gently placed His hand on my Guru Cakra. Slowly, my entire existence began melting into the white effulgence surrounding me.
This experience was similar to the time when BABA demonstrated Savikalpa Samadhi in Delhi at the MG Quarter—but this time, it felt even more precious and vibrant. Suddenly, I heard the voice of one of the medical attendants: “Look, Dada is crying…” He spoke softly to me, saying, “Don’t worry, Dadaji, you will be well soon.”
But in my mind, I was completely immersed in the supreme proximity of BABA. The tears in my eyes were not of pain; they were tears of divine joy. Afterward, I was shifted to the ICU and treated for four days. Later, Dr. Ajay Shah told me, “You were saved by only half an hour. If you had been delayed even by that much, the complications would have gone beyond control.” This is the greatest example of BABA’s divine grace. He personally supervised everything, ensuring my safe arrival at the hospital within the critical emergency window. Truly, we are all secure in the loving shelter of BABA.
BABA NAM KEVALAM. BABA KRIPA HI KEVALAM (This happened just last month (July 2025)
The Spiritual Science of Kirtan
PARAM PURUSH BABA Always Resides in the Heart of a Devotee PARAM PURUSH BABA always remains in the heart of the bhakta who is absorbed in the Kirtan mantra: “BABA NAM KEVALAM.”
BABA explained the spiritual science behind this Kirtan mantra. BABA said: “When you sing the Kirtan mantra, it vibrates through your entire physical body, all the chambers of your mind, and finally takes you into Cosmic Consciousness, where you become one with Him.” BABA continued: “When you sing ‘BABA NAM KEVALAM,’ it begins the process of cleansing all your C’akras. As you know, the initial voice starts as Para Shakti from the Muladhar C’akra—called ‘Para.’ From there, it rises to the Swadhisthana C’akra and is called ‘Pashyanti.’ At the Manipur C’akra, it becomes ‘Madhyama.’ When it reaches the Anahat C’akra, it becomes ‘Dhyotmana.’ At the Vishuddha C’akra, it transforms into ‘Vaikhari,’ and finally assumes a language form, which is called ‘Shruti Gochara.’”
Language and Sanskaras
BABA explained further: “Up to the Vishuddha C’akra, this process is common for everyone. Only at the stage of ‘Shruti Gochara,’ the final state of expression, does it take the form of spoken language. This form depends on the sanskaras—the reactive momenta—of the person. It could be English, Hindi, or any other language, based on the environment in which the person was born.”
A Caution on Speech
BABA then cautioned: “Never use abusive language or harsh words. It spoils your C’akras. It is even better to hit someone physically than to speak bad words.”
Effect of Kirtan on Body and Environment
BABA continued: “When you sing the Kirtan mantra, it evolves your C’akras, stimulates your glands, and even vibrates the surrounding environment.” BABA finally added: “The Kirtan mantra ultimately attracts the Cosmic Nucleus—PARAM PURUSH BABA—towards your existence. Remember, the devotee (Bhakta), devotion (Bhakti), and God (Bhagavan) are always one and inseparable.”
The Highest Goal
Therefore, the Kirtan mantra “BABA NAM KEVALAM” is pure devotion. Do more and more Kirtan, and become one with the Supreme Consciousness—PARAM PURUSH BABA, the highest goal of human life. Do maximum Kirtan, maximum Sádhaná, and maximum service to suffering humanity. Baba Nam Kevalam Baba Kripa Hi Kevalam
BABA’s Warning Against Occult Powers
Many times in General Darshan, BABA repeatedly warned against the evil effects of occult powers on the minds of sadhakas, explaining that they ultimately cause downfall in the spiritual journey. BABA said: “…When you evolve in sadhana (spiritual practice), side by side you also acquire occult powers. It is like walking on a sea beach, and fine sand sticks to your legs. Just remove it from your legs…” Now, I will share the story of my own encounter with occult powers—followed by the punishment from Prakriti and the heavy scolding I received from BABA.
My Encounter with Occult Powers
After receiving initiation in Tantra Sadhana, I was given a new name—Ac’arya Gunadhiishananda Avadhuta—and was posted as Press Manager in Delhi. There, I came into close contact with Ac’arya Shivananda Avadhuta (later renamed Ac’arya Samnvayananda Avadhuta). He was a very deep and experienced Tantric sadhaka. Somehow, he took a liking to me and encouraged me to practice more and more Tantra Sadhana. We both used to perform Tantra Sadhana every night. Meanwhile, he also explained to me various powers that come from Tantric practices and how such powers could be used.
A Test of Temptation
At that time, I was facing some problems in press management. I urgently needed a large amount of funds to pay the salaries of the workers and to purchase materials for the press—to the tune of ₹30,000. I was worried, but suddenly I remembered a secret technique taught by Ac’arya Samnvayananda. That night, I performed Tantra Sadhana and applied the technique.
The very next morning, as I was preparing to go to the press, I received an urgent call from R. Prasad, the Collector of Customs and Central Excise at Delhi, asking me to come to his house immediately. When I reached his residence and entered the drawing room, I saw an elderly gentleman with an elegant secretary standing behind him. R. Prasad introduced him as Shanti Prasad Shahu Jain, the owner of the Times of India Group of Publications.
After a few introductory words, Shahu Jain asked me directly: “How can I help you, Swamiji?” I humbly requested him to provide funds amounting to ₹30,000 for my press management.
Shahu Jain simply looked at his assistant, and immediately the assistant handed me a briefcase filled with cash. After that, Shahu Jain departed. As soon as he left, R. Prasad became very upset with me. He said: “Dadaji, I had prepared Shahu Jain to give you ₹5 lakhs, and you asked for only ₹30,000!” I was stunned, and in that moment I realized my mistake. It was indeed a miracle created by the Tantra practice that I had performed the previous night—the exact amount I had asked for manifested before me.
The Punishment from BABA
The following week, BABA visited Delhi. Suddenly, I was urgently called to meet Him. Without wasting a single moment, I rushed to the MG Quarters. There, Ramanand Dada, who was BABA’s PA, pushed me inside BABA’s room and shut the door from outside.
I immediately performed Sastanga Pranam. The moment I raised my eyes to look at BABA, I was shaken to my bones. His eyes were red with anger, and His whole appearance was terrifying. In a thunderous voice, He shouted: “How dare you use Tantra power without My permission!”
BABA then took His stick and began beating me on my back. Each blow was intensely painful. After five to seven strikes in one row, He finally stopped. Then He continued: “Tantra powers belong to Me. How dare you use them without My permission? Do you know how much damage you have done to yourself?”
At this, I burst into tears. Crying, I begged: “Sorry, BABA… sorry… please forgive me. It will not happen again. Please forgive me, BABA…” Tears flowed endlessly from my eyes as I wept before Him.
BABA’s Compassionate Grace
After some time, BABA became normal again. He asked me to sit properly in Siddhasana. Then He touched both sides of my ribs and gently pressed the point of His stick on my Anahata Cakra. He said: “You must always take My permission before using Tantric powers. Only if you become as tolerant as a tree—which never harms you even if you cut it apart—and as humble as grass, then, and only then, are you entitled to use Tantra powers.” BABA then gave me detailed personal instructions, which I cannot share here.
Conclusion From this incident, I realized a very important lesson. Originally, I was destined to receive ₹5 lakhs, but due to the misuse of Tantric power, I gained only ₹30,000. This was a direct consequence of applying Tantra for worldly benefit instead of seeking BABA’s guidance.
Through this experience, I deeply understood why BABA always warned us against using occult powers. Ananda Marga Tantra Sadhana is solely for spiritual liberation, not for worldly gains. Occult powers are dangerous distractions; if misused, they pull a sadhaka away from the true spiritual path.
BABA Nam Kevalam. BABA Krpa Hi Kevalam.
BABA Explains the Importance of the Human Body
In one General Darshan, BABA explained the importance of the human body. BABA said: “Your human body is a very, very precious blessing and must be used to its maximum capacity to reach Brahmahood in this very lifetime. To use the human body to achieve anything else is misuse. The moment you reach Brahmahood, the purpose of the human body is fulfilled, and then you do not need it anymore. But until then, it remains a very valuable asset of your life. After reaching Brahmahood, you may leave your body and merge with your Supreme Goal, or you may keep it for some time to serve humanity — to be a helping hand in the divine mission of PARAM PURUSH BABA.”
Suddenly, BABA paused and, with a mysterious smile, asked: “Who wants to come with Me to establish Ánanda Márga on the next planet?” All the Margiis replied joyfully, in one voice: “Yes, BABA, we are ready!”
BABA continued: “Take work from your body as a farmer takes work from his tractor.” BABA then explained the deep spiritual powers hidden in the human body. He said:
“All activities of human life are controlled by various plexuses in the spinal cord, beginning from the bottom end up to the highest level of the brain. These are:
- Múládhár Cakra
- Svádhisthán Cakra
- Mańipura Cakra
- Anáhata Cakra
- Vishuddha Cakra
- Ájńá Cakra
- Guru Cakra
- Sahasrára Cakra
At the Múládhár Cakra, a serpentine divine power called Kuńd́aliní lies sleeping in coiled form. When it is awakened by the Iishta Mantra given by the Sadguru, it begins to rise toward the Sahasrára Cakra — the abode of Pure Consciousness. Finally, at the culmination of intensive Sádhaná, Kuńd́aliní reaches the Supreme Consciousness. This is the grand achievement of human life. During its rising process, all past reactive momenta — the ‘saḿskáras’ — are burned off. This is the state of Moksha — permanent liberation from all the bondages of Mahámáyá.”
BABA explained this profound spiritual science — this great spiritual technology — in such simple and understandable language. So, follow the spiritual path shown by BABA and make human existence a great success.
- Do maximum Kiirtan: “BABA NAM KEVALAM.”
- Do maximum Sádhaná.
- Do maximum service to suffering humanity.
Simplicity Always Brings Blessings
Simplicity always brings blessings. Be innocent like a child before Param Purush BABA, and you will enjoy His endless love. This truth was revealed to me during my very first Personal Contact with BABA.
In that sacred meeting, BABA narrated many of the misconducts of my past and then asked me: “Don’t you deserve punishment for your deeds?” In a low, trembling voice, I replied: “Yes, BABA.” Immediately, BABA gave me a firm beating with His stick on both sides of my back.
Then He continued, saying: “I always remain with you and watch all your deeds.” I was utterly speechless, for BABA spoke of very personal things—secrets known only to me. After recovering from the shock, I gathered courage and asked: “As you say, BABA, you are always with me… but how can I know that you are truly with me?”
BABA looked at me with a sweet, radiant smile and replied: “Whenever you do anything wrong, I appear as repentance in your mind. And whenever you do anything good—for yourself or for suffering humanity—I appear as divine joy in your consciousness.” This was such a clear and profound message: BABA is the Eternal Witness, observing each and every action, everywhere in the Universe, at every moment.
Then, in a strong, commanding voice, BABA declared: “There is no place in the entire Universe where you can hide from Me. I listen to even the smallest whisper of your mind. Where even the rays of the sun dare not reach, I go there.” At that moment, I saw BABA’s face glowing with divine brightness, radiating the Universal Authority of Godhood. From this experience I realized: let us live each breath of our lives with supreme joy and bliss, for Almighty God—Param Purush, our beloved BABA—is always with us, everywhere, all the time.
It is we who forget Him, but BABA never forgets us. He remains ever-present, always at our call and unfailingly at our back. Let us awaken our Dhruva Smriti (constant remembrance of the Divine) and enjoy His presence every moment, everywhere. BABA is the Living God.
So, let us do maximum Kirtan—“BABA NAM KEVALAM”, practice deep Sadhana, and dedicate ourselves to selfless service of suffering humanity.
The Entire Universe – A Continuous Process of Transformation
The entire universe is a continuous process of transformation. In the first half, it evolves from Pure Consciousness into crude matter, and in the second half, it moves from crude matter back into Pure Consciousness. This eternal transformation is known as the Cosmic Cycle (Brahma Cakra).
We are all part of this ever-changing flow, moving—whether knowingly or unknowingly—towards our Divine Destiny of Pure Consciousness, Param Purush.
In a General Darshan at Ranchi, BABA said: “…In this changing and moving universe, nothing remains still. You cannot cling to your present state of existence, because in the very next moment you are transformed. For human beings, these changes may occur in two different directions—either towards Divinity or towards crude matter.
Do you know that you have reached the human level after enduring the tortures of thousands of years of animal lives? Would you like to go back again into those painful animal existences? No, no! No wise person would ever wish to face the sufferings of animal life again.
Out of His infinite and unconditional love for His children, Param Purush has designed the spiritual path for humanity so that they may reach their Divine Destination of Pure Consciousness. He manifests as the Guru, the Spiritual Teacher, and provides human beings with the practice of sádhaná.”
BABA has given the greatest gift—the scientific system of spiritual practice—to the entire human race. It is now up to us to make the best use of it and make our human existence a supreme success by reaching the lotus feet of Param Purush, our Beloved BABA.
BABA is always with us, within and without. But it is our responsibility to be with Him by:
- Singing the Kirtan Mantra: BABA Nam Kevalam
- Practicing Iśt́a Mantra, Guru Mantra, and Guru Dhyan
- And above all, engaging in maximum Service to suffering humanity, which brings Him the greatest joy.
BABA Explains the Relationship Between the Self and the World
One evening, while walking with BABA in Ranchi, He began to explain the true nature of the relationship between an individual and the rest of the world.
BABA said: “Look, everything in this universe is constantly moving and changing with respect to time, space, and person. Every existence has its own unique speed and specific path. No two individuals share exactly the same speed or path of movement. Therefore, when one develops a relationship with another, separation is bound to occur one day, because of the differences in their respective paths and speeds.”
BABA then gave an example to illustrate: “It is like two trains moving in the same direction but on different tracks. The passengers in these trains, when they come close, may greet one another with a smile or a ‘hello.’ But as time passes, the trains begin to separate due to differences in their speed or direction, and eventually, the connection between the travelers comes to an end.”
He continued: “This is the irony of the physical world—that all relationships between human beings are temporary. But your relationship with Param Puruṣa is eternal. He is with you always, everywhere in the universe. No power in existence can separate you from Him. Therefore, become one with your Param Puruṣa through Kiirtan—‘BABA NAM KEVALAM’—through Sadhana, and through selfless service to suffering humanity.”
BABA further explained how to conduct oneself in this temporary physical world: “Consider yourself as a passenger waiting at a railway station. You cannot build your home on the platform, because the moment your train arrives, you must leave the platform immediately. In the same way, this world is not your permanent abode.”
Yet, human beings remain preoccupied with the illusion that this world is permanent and that they will remain here forever. BABA’s teaching is a reminder to awaken from this dream and to reach the Lotus Feet of Param Puruṣa through Kiirtan, Sadhana, and Service to suffering humanity.
The Upanishadic Verse in Ranchi
Whenever I used to meet BABA, I always forgot that He is Param Purush Himself — the Supreme Consciousness, the God of the Universe. This was because of His simplicity, humility, and His completely human-like expressions.
One evening in Ranchi, during a field walk with BABA, I recited a verse from the Upanishads to show the depth of my philosophical understanding. Those were my very early days of introduction to Ananda Marga.
I began: “Isha vasyam idam sarvam yad kincha jagatyam jagat…” But suddenly, my mind went blank — I could not remember the remaining part of the verse. I repeated the same line again, yet failed once more.
At that moment, BABA looked at me with a sweet smile and lovingly completed the verse Himself: “…tena tyaktena bhunjitha ma gridhah kasyasvid dhanam.” (Meaning: “Whatever exists in this universe is enveloped by the Supreme. Enjoy the world through renunciation, and never covet what belongs to others.”) BABA completed the verse so affectionately and naturally that it felt as though a close friend was speaking to me. His demeanor was so simple and intimate that I completely forgot I was standing before the Lord of the Universe. That small divine gesture filled me with courage and inspiration. From that day onward, I could express myself before BABA fearlessly and freely.
BABA Describes Lord Krishna
On another occasion, while walking with BABA in Patliputra Colony one evening, He began narrating the story of Lord Krishna’s departure from Gokul to Mathura. In the midst of the conversation, BABA suddenly stopped, stood on one side of the road. Then He continued, “Lord Krishna was just one fist taller than my height.” BABA placed His fist on top of His head and said, “Just this much more.”
He spoke and acted so vividly that for a moment it felt as if Lord Krishna Himself was standing right before our eyes. The scene became so alive that we were completely lost in His divine expression.
BABA’s Fatherly Concern
Another incident that deeply touched my heart revealed BABA’s fatherly concern for every individual Margi. Here, He did not behave as the God of Heaven, but as a very loving and caring Father.
During an evening walk in Delhi, we had chosen the Chanakyapuri area — a beautiful, well-maintained locality reserved for foreign embassies. We were walking together along the roadside. Among us were senior Margis such as V. K. Asthana, R. Prasad, Ravindra Dutta, Venu Gopalan, Dr. P. K. Kymal, and Engineer S. L. Khullar — all highly placed government officials.
As usual, BABA began speaking on historical topics. He started narrating a fascinating account of the royal dynasty of the kings of Nepal. The narration was so interesting that we were all completely absorbed.
Suddenly, BABA stopped and exclaimed, “Look! There is a ditch on the road!” In the same instant, He quickly held R. Prasad by the collar and lifted him to the other side. Indeed, there was an open hole right in his path — had BABA not intervened, R. Prasad would certainly have been injured.
BABA scolded him gently, saying, “Be careful while walking!” R. Prasad spontaneously replied, “BABA, when You are here to look after me, I am always safe and sound.” BABA smiled affectionately and said, “A very, very intelligent boy.”
BABA’s Assurance of Divine Care
During a General Darshan in Delhi, BABA once openly declared: “I am not the God of Heaven. I live with you and watch over you all with deep care, so that all My children may remain safe and sound.”
So, let us remain carefree — filled with faith and devotion — and continue to do maximum Kirtan: “BABA Nam Kevalam.”
Let us practice Sadhana sincerely and offer Service to the suffering humanity of the entire universe.
